I subscribe to one popular hypothesis about the construction of the reservation system, but I expand on it. Be aware this is just my opinion/theory and it might be fact or fake, or partially true or false.

Since this reservation system began there have been 107 (Bronco was 107).
Example: 108 1 3xxx

When the reservation numbers reach 7 9999, 108 closes and 109 opens.

The 1 (1-9) are the names of overflow servers that would pick up the reservation caller if the senior server could not keep up with orders. This number really does not matter to us. It just so happens that my number 4 server picked up when servers 1-3 were busy with calls. The higher the number means the system was busier with the speed and volume of reservations at that moment.

3xxx (1-999) is your place in line in the number one server tranche with the range lowest to highest is 1-999. All numbers are ranked by timestamp.

Bob reserved at 6:31 pm EST and was awarded #108 1 0001.
Traffic increased at 6:45 pm EST so servers 2-7 came online as needed.
Tom reserved at 6:45 pm EST and was awarded #108 5 0001.
Traffic decreased at 6:46 pm EST so servers 5-7 dropped out.
Mary reserved at 6:50 pm EST and was awarded #108 2 0001.

To look at their numbers you might think Mary has a lower spot in line, but No. Her 6:50 timestamp got beat by Tom's 6:45.

After server 1 is full with 9,999 reservations it retires with timestamps ranked low to high. A new #1 will come on line.

Anyway, it seems like a logical system that explains the reservation number.

After looking through the reservation list the highest number I found was 7xxx. So if each of seven servers filled with 9,999 reservations each, then the system rolled over to 109 and we start again, and so on.

Most important to us reservation holders is our timestamp and it's relation to the second the website opened at the beginning of the event on May 19th at 6:30 pm EST.

Where does one find their timestamp? I checked the email I received and the website showing my reservation, both only show the date (with no time). Are you going by the time you received the confirmation email?

Not being familiar with debugging this stuff, for some reason @TacoTuesday 's instructions did not quite work. But close enough I found my timestamp in the OptanonAlertBoxClosed cookie:
