Yes. Ford is only going to get stricter about this over time, so I don't foresee it going away.

Back in the US. Sync stuck on 23031 rev 713. Left on wifi and ota, scheduled updates, nothing loaded.

i was overseas and did a one time self update. Is my truck stuck? Can updates be for ed? Thanks in advance.

If you're on 23031, that is old, but well past the software version where truck would get stuck. it is possible that there are updates you need that are not on the server for you and you would have to wait for Ford to release them, but if that is the case, there is nothing you can do but wait. Not even with FDRS would you be able to update Sync if that is the case.

Guys, things have gotten even worse with Ford. Remove your VIN from the forum and message me the VIN check requests. Since people cannot follow directions and remove the VINs after I check them, I will not be doing public VIN checks anymore. Ford is suspending FDRS accounts for checking VINs outside the United States, too. Enjoy this while it lasts.

Probably should just have the admins lock this thread unfortunately if that's the case since no one can follow that ask seems like. Or if there can be some type of message or popup before you post on this thread there should be no VINs posted publicly on here anymore, but that might be a tall order. Or even just rename the title of the thread to say that right off the bat. Sucks to see it come to this but that's the game I guess.

is this because you work for a dealer ship and they feel you are creating more warranty work? just really don't understand how they can control this if your a paying customer..

I would like to keep the thread open so people know it exists. I will just ignore the public VIN check requests.

Idk what the reason is, tbh. Maybe they want everyone to have to pay for a license to access PTS/FDRS to check their own statuses so they can make more money. Who knows?

Well shoot, majority of people that ask to check usually end up buying a license to get it updated themselves, so they are already getting their money there lol. If they were smart they would allow everyone to check for free then say hey, go to the dealer and pay them $$ to update it for you or give us $ and you can do it yourself.

In the John Deere world we are right on cusp of this right now, you/customers can push new OTA capable updates to machines straight from the app, for free and yourself! Plus the newer tool we have, you can push updates straight through a browser to the modem/TCU through wifi for any other updates, without the need for any type of interface device. I've even done some using just my phone and its pretty cool, so its coming.
