A big pet peeve of mine on the 21+ 150 was the fact that I have to wait 1-2 seconds after closing the door for the soft touch lock button to work on the door handle. This goes for 3 different 21+ trucks Ive spent lots of hours with

Happy to say that this delay is much less after installing the H8 in my truck. Now I can almost immediately lock the door after closing like my 15.

Its also nice to not have Trailer and ADAS warnings every time I start the truck.
Ive been thinking the delay was odd but have been dealing with it...
which battery did u go with?

Walmart AGM H8. Its so weird. Not completely fixed after battery but a little better. The old trucks worked alot better in this manner.

What is wrong with using the lock button inside truck? Close door, it is already locked. Been doing that for 20 years.

Well when I get my daughter out of the back seat, I get out, close my door, get her out and then push the lock button on the handle. It's a nice little feature that I use frequently. It would get annoying fast if there was a few second lag.

I have issues with the lock button on handle not locking half the times I tried it so I don't bother to use it. I'll use the keypad bottom two buttons instead. Maybe it is the delay issue they mentioned but the keypad doesn't seem to be delayed at all.

The inconsistency from truck to truck seems so odd.
It's the same hardware (button) and software (I'd assume), yet it locks my doors quickly and reliably. Although it's definitely not a soft touch button. I have to be fairly deliberate.

I too get out of the driver's door, then open the rear door to fetch 1-3 little urchins, then close the door and hit the button. Daily.

@fordtruckman2003 @Snakebitten. Guys, I actually thought my lock button had a problem, until I realized what I was doing wrong. Laugh now, I'm a lefty. So as I was stabbing my big fat thumb at the button on the handle to lock the door, inadvertently I was dangling the rest of my fingers behind the handle, either touching ever so slightly or in close enough proximity causing it not to react. But this leaves the truck to saying, well... idiot do you want me to lock or unlock the door? 😅 😂

I wonder....... How common is....

But I'll defend you, because since the unlock button is so amazingly reactive, requiring the lightest of touch, if the lock button was just as efficient, folks wouldn't feel like that have to GRAB something to push the lock button?

Yes exactly, the lock button doesn't seem to have the same sensitivity as the back side unlock portion of the handle. The one good thing about the buttons is they appear to be pressure sensitive as they always work even with heavy winter gloves on. With prior trucks I always found myself putting my gloves off to press buttons on the fob. Glad those days are over, dam how lazy am I.

Dealer ended up warrantying my battery. So while I don’t have an h8, I at least have a new battery and the little issues have gone away - like approach lighting not working, remote start not working, interior lights not coming on.

Funny you mention that. I was grabbing handle to press button with my thumb first time trying to use that button and the truck was very confused. 🤣

I finally replaced mine with an H8 (AC Delco AGM Gold for $180 on Amazon) on my 21 and so far it’s amazing.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a fully functioning battery - I think this is the first time I’ve had auto stop start work consistently I’ve been getting updates every few days (I stalled in October or a November of last year due to never having a charge) and like people noted on the locks - my proximity would turn off with low battery which was a regular occurance.

We will see how things hold up but so far just having things work is amazing. I’m not sure my battery was ever that good (purchased 1/1/2021 so late 20 build) and when I pulled the one out it was an H6 despite being a 502A. Probably should have talked to a dealer about this during warranty period but $180 is also sort of whatever…

Now I just need to find a big enough battery blanket to keep it alive…

Rats on the ProPower snafu. 🤨

It's why I dread leaving my keys with them.
So dealer pulled the dash again, far enough to get to the connecter that looked like it was plugged in, but turned out it was not fully seated. ProPower is now fully functional!

On a side note, they covered the cost of the H8 battery I had purchased and installed the battery cover under warranty.

OP here with an update. I started this thread after upgrading my factory H7 size battery to a H8 on January 19. As previously documented, like so many other F-150 owners, I was experiencing a myriad of annoying little electrical issues, and concluded that the root cause was the battery. And like so many other owners, implemented a solution of regularly using a battery maintainer/charger. This solution successfully addressed the electrical issues. However, I eventually found the practice of having to constantly plug-in and unplug from a charger became annoying. The purpose of the battery replacement was to eliminate the constant practice of plugging in the truck to a battery maintainer/charger.

There are all kinds of electrical experts on this forum who can bury me in technical information, facts, and data. So to be clear, I offer this update as nothing more than anecdotal evidence.

As of this writing, some 3+ months after upgrading the battery, I can report that 100% of my previous issues have disappeared. Nothing else has changed (frequency of driving, length of trips, etc.) other than swapping batteries and removing the maintainer/charger. No more issues. I've even had three successful OTA updates. Joy.
