My remote start will not work anymore in my 2022 Powerboost 3.5L Platinum using the Ford app. I did have a recent recall to reprogram something...can't remember what it was?

Charge your truck 12V battery with a trickle charger overnight and it’ll probably work again. Remote start is one of the first things to go when the battery is at low state of charge, and if you have the factory battery in your ‘22 still then you have gotten more use out of it than many others on here from that era. Most replace their H6 AGM with H7 in Powerboost models.

As I understand it you also have another assist battery under your rear seat that will charge too when you charge under the hood.

After charging, and if it still doesn’t work, then there are other issues, but this is a simple and cheap first attempt at a fix

Got tired of fighting this on my(2) 23s and got the xstart remote start off amazon for both.

I agree about the battery. When my battery gets low, the remote start fails to work. If the SOC is high, remote start is not a problem. I keep my truck on a battery tender in the winter, but since I’m close to 3 years on the original battery. I think I will be replacing my battery this winter.

That makes sense...I'm getting this message when I shut the truck off..."System Off to Save Battery"
"Please turn ignition off or start engine".
I'll have to replace those batteries.

Charge them fully before installing. Reset the BMS after install.
I would suggest a higher amp hour battery for the aux battery. A 14ah battery can be installed.

Good to know...what is the process to reset the BMS?

Good to know...what is the process to reset the BMS?
I had a similar issue with my Jeep Grand Cherokee where the auto stop/start feature quit working and remote start struggled in colder months. After a lot of research it ended up being the same issue we have with these Fords. The SOC of the AMG batteries (12v and Aux) was too low. Frustrating as the vehicle is only 4yrs old.. But sounds like this is fairly common with these expensive batteries.

So with all of that, my assumption on how to reset the BMS is similar to how its done with my Jeep? I replaced BOTH batteries at the same time per the recommendations, then let the vehicle go into a deep sleep overnight. Make sure there is no draw on the batteries at all. Even take the keys out and bring them into the house (if you park in a garage) far away from the truck cuz apparently if the keys are in or near the vehicle it never goes into a full sleep. Thats what I was told anyways.

I did all of this and the next morning all systems were fixed in my rig.

If this is incorrect or the reset process in a Ford is different, I am sure I will be corrected and hope I am. Hope this helps.

^effort notwithstanding, this is not how to reset the BMS on a ford.

- Hit the start button without your foot on the brake for Aux power

- flash the headlights 5 times

- hit the brakes 3 times

- watch for a battery icon on the dash

- shut the truck off

the end!

Remote start will not work on my brand new 2024 if I don't drive it for two weeks with the same message noted in this thread. I assume the communication taking place all the time with the truck off is doing it. I just live with it.

No reason to live with it. It makes the vehicle perform at 60% for no reason, when you could fix it for the next 5 years for 250 bucks and 15 minutes.

Took it to Advanced Auto to see if they sold H7 AGM...Seems I already have one. He tested my battery and said it was fully charged. And now the message went away? Weird...

When I remote start my 22 PB from the app, I have to slide the start button and stay on the screen a full minute or so until confirmation. If I close the app at all it will fail. Other vehicles I’ve had would just do their thing once remote start was requested.
