Remind me what the extended warranty sweet spot is? 100k/7 years?

As a Canadian with a US mailing address, Lombard Ford was a pleasure to deal with. Their pricing was 1/2 of what Canadian Ford dealers want to charge.
I got an 8 year, 100K mile, 100 deductible, Premium Care with lighting covered.
Once all the paper work was done, I called the dealership to verify that Oasis showed my warranty, and it was all good.
These LED headlights in my Lariat are not cheap if they have to replace.

So, are most adding the lighting option and key option? Rental options?
Based on this thread: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/extended-service-plans-esps.592/ I went with 8yr/100k miles with no deductible and included first and extended rental along with lights and keys for $2260.

Below was my reasoning at the time:

I've never bought extended warranties in my life, basically self insure, and always keep cars 10+ years, but I've also never owned a Ford. Just thinking with the 12" screen, turbos, hybrid, towing components, all the other electronics, etc. it may or may not be worth it to have full coverage. If nothing goes wrong in that time, then it was basically "$200 annual insurance" and the truck was reliable as all my Hondas and Subarus have been and that'd be great. If I ended up using part or all of it, whether the repairs would have been $0, $500, or $5000, then the peace of mind knowing not to sweat about out of pocket is there.

Based on other's posts, I was swayed to go with no deductible in case any gremlins caused repeat visits.

I remember a post on here outlining what the sweet spot cost wise was for the extended warranty. I cannot find it through the search function. If I remember right it was 7 years and 100k miles? After that it jumped up in price quite a bit I believe.

I have 2022 Powerboost and I'm thinking about buying this warranty for it. Would you guys recommend this?

Granger still the cheapest option to buy a warranty from? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.
I bought the 7 year/100,000 mile plan for my MY22 PB. I wish I had gotten the 8 yr/100,000 mile plan. 8 yr/100.000 would match the Ford factory warranty on the hybrid parts.

Except it sucks because it's not an "extended" warranty since it overlaps with the first 3 years provided by Ford. It should be an extra 6, 7, 8 years, starting AFTER Ford's warranty ends. :(

You should be able to change it, no?

I'd argue that it's priced based on an insurance ri$k assessment.
So if they designed it to be exactly what you describe, it'd just cost more to reflect it.

Or put another way, the price for their 10 year ESP coverage is very likely how much a 7 year extended warranty that you describe would cost?

That's another way of looking at it. I would just rather not pay for overlapping insurance. Makes me feel like I paid for the first 3 yrs with Ford during purchase process, and then paying for it again with extended warranty. Know what I mean? :p

I've bought multiple warranties from Lombard Ford and I agree, they are very easy to work with.
My '15 has an 8yr, 125k warranty, still good until July 23rd.
I agree with a previous poster, it's best to buy the warranty right before your 3/36 expires.

You're not paying for overlapping insurance. You're paying to extend the factory warranty to x years or x miles. Don't overthink the semantics of the ranges. :)

I agree with your thinking on the electronics. Way expensive to replace/repair and out of my wheelhouse to DIY. Just wish there was an electronics only plan. My wife has a 2019 Subaru Forester which before seeing these new F150's I thought was so hi-tech. It is hitech but not as much as the F150's. Anyway Subaru sells an Electronics only Protection plan that includes headlights and back up camera. She also got the prepaid maintenance plan, I'm not totally sold on that one. But she wanted it, so she got it.

Exactly this. That is how ins. works.
An important way to look at it, is that you are making a bet with the ins. co.
They are betting that between the premiums charged and that they get that premium early in advance, they'll be able to invest that money and get a return greater than what any claims cost.

You're betting the opposite but they have way more data and evaluation tools than you do so, you're the pigeon at that poker table..

That is different than the "peace of mind" equation, which is more difficult to quantify and changes from person to person.

With factory warrantees being so much less than they used to be and the overwhelming amount of tech. and it's cost I'll be buying one too. Just haven't decided which, or when.

I'm soon to purchase the 7yr/125k Premium Care from Granger with $100 deductible.

Yes to the lighting option.
Yes to the key replacement option.

Iffy on the rental coverages, but with my IWE acting up, I'm leaning toward getting it now..
