(Reuters) - Ford (F)will recall 90,736 vehicles as engine intake valves in the vehicles may break while driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Saturday.

The recall impacts certain 2021-2022 Bronco, F-150, Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine, the NHTSA said.

As part of the remedy, dealers will perform an engine cycle test and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge, the regulator said.

Pic is funny but I love my apparently defective 2.7

Hopefully the fix isn't going to make it worse. Probably take several weeks for dealer to do the job. I really wasn't planning to go to a dealer with this truck. Ugh.

Thank god it's not the 3.5 or 5.0. Whew. Still that's pretty bad. They will probably just replace the heads with brand new heads (that come with new valves.)

Not sure if I trust a ford tech to pull the heads, replace valves and reinstall?
Or is it just a whole new engine?

Sucks sorry 2.7 F150 members, I haven't seen a 3.0 member on here...

Had a dealer do a full rebuild on a first generation 3.5 and ran it hard for 10 years afterwards. Dealer can definitely do the job but I expect part delays, dealers lacking staff, etc. Going to be a big deal not having truck for weeks.

Ford wants dealers to check the number of engine cycles. Then force engine to run high RPM and see if it breaks. That tells me they don't know which trucks have the bad heads.

I don't think the Lightning has the 2.7.

Now you see the point of this thread.

The other thread here has more info on the issue.
