It downloaded the update without asking. It did require me to click accept to start the install at least. While I'm not a fan of Ford ignoring my preferences on their OTA's in the case of a recall I guess it's to be expected.
That is the preference you selected. Turning off Automatic updates prompts you to select when to install. It doesn't stop downloads. But if you ignore it the update will eventually go away.

Anyway as another data point, I got my update for this in June.

That's frustrating to say the least, if I turn of auto-updates I'd prefer nothing gets downloaded without my permission.

I am thinking it is a liability issue. They can say, we gave it to you, but you didn't want it.

The recall notification just cleared from FordPass/Ford.com account. It was still showing last night. So it does take about 1-2 business days for it to clear it appears.

Now I didn't mention this, but after he did the recall, I got a pop up on the dash when leaving the dealer that said "reverse brake assist not available". I went back in and the tech took it around back, then came back 5min later. I'm like, huh, that was too quick. Then he shows me the printout and it says to drive for 5mins in a straight line over 18mph. He asks if I wanted him to run it or try it myself. So I drive it a couple miles on a straight road around 35mph, stop at a gas station to walk around a minute, and then checked and hot damn, the pop up went away and I drove home.
I find this post very interesting. I have a 2022 Jan 25 Job 1 and I've had this pop-up for as long as I can remember - at least ever since my passenger side tow mirror was replaced in Apr a couple of days after I took delivery. The dealer said he calibrated the cameras and then again in May to no avail. I tried this procedure but only for a very short distance slowly for less then a minute. Now I'll have to try it for about 5 miles above 18 mph. We'll see!

The other key thing it said was to not have any steering input for a period of time and I don't recall if his paper said a certain number of seconds or what, but I tried a bunch to keep it above 25mph and not touch the wheel for as long as possible, then adjust it straight and then go as long as possible without touching the wheel again. For reference, I only did about a mile after rechecking the distance. It was about a mile straight leaving the dealer, then made a turn, did another 1/4 mile. If it hadn't reset, then I would have jumped on 95 and ran to the next exit, but that wasn't needed. So you really shouldn't have to travel that far to get recalibrated and I would think normal driving would kick it for you.

Now I've had this pop up before and it was due to the tailgate being removed for Line-X. I think the tech back in December did a different TSB procedure with reprogramming something before doing this driving process.

Those that have this issue will need to update their ABS module and their IPMA. The ABS update is actually specifically for this issue.

Does anybody know what the actual problem was and what was done to remedy it?

I'm not sure if 22S17 actually updated on my truck. My truck itself says that it got the 22S17 update on 24 Sept, but my Fordpass App still says it is incomplete.

If anyone can check what updates I received I would greatly appreciate it. My VIN is 1FTFW1ED1MFC92576

You have the most recent version of the TRM software:

<NODEID>791
<F110>DS-MU5T-19J294-AK</F110>
<F111>MU5T-19J302-DC</F111>
<F113>MU5T-19J294-DJ</F113>
<F188>ML3T-19J297-BB</F188>
<F18C>22421A-D20-20723</F18C>
</NODEID>

It should have cleared the FordPass app by now. You might have to visit your dealer to have them verify the installation if it bothers you. A call to Ford might also work since you received it OTA and they should have a record of it.

Would someone please check my truck. I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow for this recall and I want to make sure my dealership gives me the correct software.
VIN: 1FTFW1ED5MFD11615
I'm going to ask them to check all my modules.
Thanks in advance...
