Rats eating my truck

got any cure for rats eating my truck? I opened the hood today (its been 6 months since I opened the hood) and the rubber thing on top of engine has something chewing in it.
got any cure for rats? I think they are Florida Fruit or roof rats.
I will call the exterminator to put boxes of poison.

I got this thing I use in my boat. it emits a noise that I can't hear, flashes red, green and white that runs off 12v. it must be working because nothing seem to bother the boat.

We don't have rat problems where I live, but it's a common practice to use moth balls and dryer sheets to keep field mice out of things. Unsure if this also works for rats though.

I’ve battled mice and it’s a long boring battle with poison and you never see the results because they run off and die somewhere else. Gave all that up and went old school with traps. Instant and much better results.

Peppermint. Make a peppermint spray and spray in there. It works.

I’m not a tree hugger. Rat poison kills predators like eagles when they eat the poisoned rat.

Ive had good luck with botanical repellent in my trailer.

I put a couple of those electronic things (110V) in the barn about 3 years ago.
I also moved the chicken feed down to the chicken coop.

Both combined ended the issue with varmints eating on wires IN THE BARN.

Does guarantee that vehicles parked outside are safe. Needless to say I park a lot of my stuff in the barn.

Good old fashioned traps work the best. Load it up some cheese, burn the cheese to get it smelling nice, dead mice the next day.

My father in law bought some of these for a cabin that my wife’s family has. He had them shipped to him in New Mexico from his family in Ohio because you can’t get them around here or even shipped to your address (unless it’s eBay). They definitely work up there at the cabin though! He just laid them on the ground and let them do their thing, no more mice scratching in the walls. He did use them in his yard as well for gophers and it worked great.

I’ve used this product from fresh cab. I don’t care for the smell of it, but it seems many rave about it. I bet you could zip tie a pack or two in a place that doesn’t get too hot.
