Confirmed today by MotorTrend the 5.7 Hemi will be added as standard equipment to the 1500 line. They also will be introducing the 6.4 Liter to the 1500 as optional equipment. This will be the first time the 6.4 Liter Hemi is available in the Ram 1500.

Ram has also confirmed the TRX 6.2L Hellcat is coming back. Ram says this will be a new generation 6.2L V8 with more power than the previous 702 HP model, more details to come I guess.

This gives me hope one might drop back into the new Charger.

That MT seems a little squishy to me that it is a done deal.

What leaves me skeptical as well is that automakers don't just change factories with a snap of the fingers. I'd have to dig where the HEMI and the SST are assembled (I wanna say HEMI was made in Mexico, not sure about the I6), and if Stellantis had plans to shut down HEMI production, I don't see how they can just restart it. I would fully expect that the tooling for the HEMI has been shut down and/or removed and replaced with the SST tooling.

And I don't see how they would have room/capacity to manufacture them both side-by-side.

I wanna believe but until I hear it in a Stellantis PR release I'm gonna keep my salt handy.

The 6.4 Hemi and 6.2 Hellcat are still in production currently, nothing was really shut down. Durango Hellcat is still being made and 6.4 is used in all the HD’s.

5.7 needs a revamp to even make it a contender , 6.4 in the work trucks is just a turd !

Aren't they having all sorts of issues with those?
Nothing that won't be worked out in the first couple years of production. Same thing happened to the early versions of the 3.5 EB, the 3.4 Toyota twin turbo, and GM continues to have issues (as did Stelantis) with the cylinder deactivation nonsense.

The 5.7 and 6.4 are heavy, inefficient, and underpowered relics. Most of the people who want the v8's back, just want the noise they make, but they aren't better in any other metric

So, Stellantis, who can't figure out cylinder deactivation, is to be trusted to "figure this out"?

I guess time will tell, but the power and efficiency and the natural balance of an inline 6-cylinder turbocharged engine, is definitely an improvement over any mass produced naturally aspirated V8.

On paper. I'm not holding my breath waiting for Dodge to figure anything out.

Kinda like how Ford still can't figure out this 10R80.

Modern Vehicles are overly complex because consumers demand so much of them, which inherently makes them less reliable and problematic.

The difference being, the weird shifts in my transmission are annoying. Nothing more. My truck still runs and goes places. Rams problems render your truck a giant paperweight.

Any problems with the Zf8 were worked out a long time ago. I had three Rams and all had flawless transmissions. I only came back to Ford for the engines because the 5.7 Hemi just wasn’t enough. I would definitely go back for an SRT 6.4 over anything that the F150 currently has.
