I keep hearing rumblings about this.

I really like the HEMI. But I’m not sure why they’re so adamant about this. The I6 sounds like a great engine. The HEMI design is probably 25 years old at this point as well. Maybe 20…

At some point don’t you kinda need to clean sheet design?

Don’t get me wrong, I hope they do… but then why did they get rid of it only to bring it back 2 years later?

Because they had a stupid asshole as the ceo of Stellantis. When he quit, or was run off, common sense returned to the company. I do agree however, the hemi really needs modernization. I seriously doubt any big improvements to the hemi will happen before 2026, as further development almost can't have been happening recently.

the HEMI was not really a HEMI of old
and it did need some updates

i saw a leaked or something the charger was back with a V8
but we shall see

gives us the choice of a high HP speed demon for sunday drives and a EREV for the normal m through f work jaunt

or a HP High Tq tow monster for trips with the family in a rv....re focus on family TIME and grand kid time
and a EREV thats fun but can be a work to home ride
i like being able to decide what works best for my family

just a bit of common sense please come back to auto world and we can have the cake and eat it to

I like the route they're taking. A newCEO and people in charge can really shake up a company. I'm a big NASCAR fan, and Dodge was supposedly coming back years ago and then the gentleman running the company died and everything changed.

Magically now RAM is rumored to be joining next year in the truck series. Funny how that's happening with Tim back at the wheel of ram trucks. They need a presence because of all the other OEMs there.

I think they should offer a V8. More competition is great for all of us and we have multiple Rams in the family and they are great trucks.

Had a 2008 Laramie with the 5.7 Hemi.

That engine / transmission combo left a lot to be desired - especially when towing.

That was also the last year before the hemi gained 45 hp. That said, it probably still leaves a lot to be desired. I had a rcsb 2wd hemi truck that ran a bunch of high 13's stone stock, on 87 octane. Still have timeslips. That engine was no joke when they updated it. Buddy had an '05 truck, identical to mine down to the color except for year. He had a tune, 90/10 shocks or struts up front, true duals, looser torque converter, and a better-than-stock air intake. His truck was only a tick slower than mine in a drag race.

If they got rid of cylinder deactivation, and updated the block to aluminum, I might bite. Not sure why anyone would want the old iron block pushrod turd they used to sell. Too heavy, underpowered, terrible gas mileage, and the cylinder deactivation is a joke.

I wish Ford had decided to go with the Zf 8sp auto myself instead of the 10R80. Definitely a much smoother shifting unit for sure. Hopefully when I get my Ford Procal installed next month it will help with that a bit.

I've had 3 4th gens with Hemi's, loved them and liked the 8 speed. The new ones look good, but needs a Hemi. Not the combos now.

Right there with you on this one. The 10 Speed is the worst thing on the truck. The ZF 8 I've had a few in BMWs and when shopping F150 also looked at RAM and the Gladiator. Its vastly superior.

Ram never should have discontinued the Hemi. It was pretty ham handed of Stellantis to introduce the straight six turbos in the 1500 and shoot the most popular engine at the same time. As sales numbers have shown, people want a choice. They could have migrated most of the Ram buyers over to the SST after it was proven to be reliable, but to leave no options (other than the Pentastar) was a huge mistake.

Agree 100%, same for Toyota, taking the tried and true V8 out for a TT truck that most don't like. My buddy works at a Toyota dealership, traded in old one for a new one, wants old body style back.
