what scares me about using the built in cleats ....is yanking them out, a rachet strap imo would easily cause a sheet metal issue
i have pulled a few pretty tight, but not tooooo tight

I just installed 4 of these on my truck this past weekend. They work great and bolt right on to the factory cleat locations.
RAD is currently running a 20% off sale right now, so price comes down to roughly $60 per strap (code RADLOVE). Yes, they are pricy, but the convenience factor alone makes it worth it in my opinion. No more tangled ball of straps for me! Plus it's a small family run US company and I don't mind supporting them for coming up with a cleaver/smart idea.

I have been looking at these but I am cheap so I was considering just buying these straps from amazon.

You don't get the interface plates so you would need to mount them to your existing plates or buy a new set from Ford PN FL3Z9928408AB or a knockoff from amazon

These are more my affordability. Lol. I wonder if there's another way other than the 1 bolt to secure them or is that 1 bolt suffice

Yeah, I def think you would need two bolts because of the the way they mount you would have a lot of tension wanting to bend them away from the plate, but it looks like the backside has enough meat you could drill a hole at the other end and add a second bolt.

I bought some of the cleats a few months ago for my truck and still haven't installed them. I might have to do a little experimenting with some of these. I'd prolly only put them on back ones since my cover is a quad fold and prolly wouldn't even use front ones.

Whoops... looks like the sale ended on 1-29-24. Sorry about that!

You could certainly save some money if you have some fabrication skills and want to put in the time & effort to fabricate brackets for those straps to mount to, then bolt them to the factory cleat locations.
That said, the mounting plates the come with the RAD Straps are very thick steel and are powder coated black. Overall quality is very good. They also come with an additional plate that bolts on to add additional holes for the straps to hook onto at each strap location.
Yes, it is pricey to buy these through RAD, but they come as a fully assembled unit that bolts onto the truck in under 10 minutes (for all four straps). I suppose it all depends on if you have the time and desire to fabricate your own mounting plates and want to take the time to try to piece something together that would work.
Plus, I bet if you added up the cost of buying the Amazon straps, plus the plate steel, plus powder coating, plus the time you'd need to spend figuring it out and making it all work; you'd be pretty close to the cost that RAD is charging.
I personally don't have the time to mess around with fabricating my own plates and I doubt that my end product would have as nice of fit & finish as what I got from RAD Straps, but that might not be the case for everyone.

Lot of $ for limited length/utility ratchet straps. I wouldn't trust those w/ a 4 wheeler. They're cute though. A 400lb strap is light weight.

I've had my first set of these for over a decade and still going strong even after being left strapping down a hot tub to trailer for 18 months through loads of rain. Cut one pair down to 12' and use that the most. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-To...t-Tie-Downs-1666-lbs-Yellow-44-4-oz/597673079.

HammaMan, always great content! IMHO, anything with suspension on it needs strap ends with a strap end closure flap. You can hit a big enough dip/bump that a bike will squat and lose the strap hook.

FWIW, I like these:

To each his own, but I think it's important to remember that it all depends on what you want the tie-down straps for. 99% of the time, the stuff that I put in my truck bed isn't super heavy and the straps are intended to just keep things from shifting around. The RAD straps are meant to be a fast and easy way to strap down cargo in your bed. If you have a super heavy load, then bust out the heavy duty straps (use the right tool for the job).
Also, each RAD strap is 9' long, so you could have up to 18' of strap, if you hook two straps together across from each other. How many times have you had cargo in the bed of your truck that required more strap length than that?
Clearly the RAD straps aren't for everyone, but I know I'll enjoy all the time and frustration saved each time that my "cute" straps roll themselves up.
