Hi guys,
I'm just posting my attempt to get to BlueCruise 1.4 on my 2022 F-150 Powerboost. My hope is that by seeing the raw action, struggles as they happen, etc. that you can decide if this is a route worth pursuing.
I have to give a huge shoutout to @rugedraw who has been an invaluable resource for me to get this going.
I got sick of my Bluecruise driving around like a drunk sailor. And I am also sick of how jerky my transmission is. I called my local dealer and they said they don't know how to update bluecruise (lol yep...) I decided to take it into my own hands. I read somewhere on the forum that a module update fixes the jerkiness of the transmission, so my fingers are crossed for that.
Ok lets cut right to it:
This is my first time attempting anything like this - I've never connected a laptop to an OBD port ever. I work in cybersecurity and am very tech savvy, so I feel comfortable with the technical work as long as instructions are clear.
I ordered the Moongose thing and a 20A battery charger with solid discounts due to prime day - This came at a cost: Package delayed for 5 days.
I finally got the package and got to work: Tons of updates pending.
rugedraw said my sync is at a level where I can install these updates in any order. I don't know how he found that but he's a legend. If you decide to this, you better get with him.
I got my car on the charger in "Power supply mode". The thing automatically chose AGM as the battery type and i saw AGM written on the battery, so that felt like the right automatic selection.
The ground for the black cable is nicely located.
I picked up the FDRS 2 day license and went to the sw update section. I started with the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) and had to do a whole thing with a USB stick. Instructions given by FDRS are very clear. Once that was done, I noticed the ford logo on the splash screen changed to a more modern look. I'll grab pictures soon.
I am now doing the IPMA - Image Processing Module A
Feel free to comment and ask questions. I'll post updates and more pics as I progress. Fingers crossed this pays off! And thanks again @rugedraw!!
