PSA don't leave your keys in your truck

I know...obvious. My truck was stolen right out front of my house on Sunday afternoon. Long story short, I was able to track the truck within minutes. It ended up in a nearby sh*t hole with a P.D. who didn't care. So, I stole it back (despite my wife's protest). The perpetrator plugged his phone into the usb c port and I can see their phone and carrier, however I am unable to see the serial number of the phone. I suspect it is stored somewhere in the sync system. Does anyone know if this is viewable with forescan, or Ford tech software?

Here's a fun thought... If the guy who stole it was ignorant enough to plug in his phone, perhaps he also allowed Sync to download his contact list... with names like "Home", "Mom", "Dad", "Office", etc.. If so, you might be able to say "Ok Ford, call Mom"

Dang, they did that with the Garage open and everything smh... My neighbor 2 days ago had his F-150 Lariat broken into in his driveway with the madness of the Car market and parts shortages being so valuable I have a feeling more and more people are going to be doing this

if that was the case locking and unlocking with the keypad is super easy and would have probably prevented this from occurring.

I just wish the vehicle had a walk away locking feature like many other vehicles do. Get out and walk way with the fob and the vehicle auto-locks within 7 seconds. (I haven't checked to see if this is a recent feature, but when I checked last year it wasn't.)

It probably wouldn't work if you leave it running with the keys inside, would it?!

how did they know the keys were in it when they pulled up?

Was it left running?

Trying to figure out how they identified it to be targeted.

I'd be willing to make a pretty good bet there isn't a contact named "office" in this guy's phone...

I love the fact that I can see the exact location of my Mach-e any time I want from the FordPass App.

I did a tire change and was able to see my local tire shop moved my car to another mechanic to get an alignment done. Later in the day, I saw it moving back to my tire guy and I was there before my own car arrivEd to pick it up without them even calling me.

With tech like that it makes you wonder why anyone would try to steal a car these days.

The pros will just know where to disconnect the modem, or in the case of our trucks how to disable with ForScan.

There's always a workaround for the pros. At least it curbs the bottom feeders like this one.
