While I continue to look for what is apparently a unicorn PB, sooner or later I'm going to have to compromise. Rapidly it looks like that means accepting a Propower-2.4. All the reading I've seen amounts to different versions of:

  1. "it's not possible. I know this because..... OK, I don't know, but I wanted to post something even if I don't know"
  2. "It's not cost effective. I know this because..... "
  3. " You don't need the 7.2, because......".

What I'm asking is this: Has anybody done it, or run it down enough to have know factually what it would take, or maybe know of a discussion getting into the specifics (lord knows I've looked and failed)?

Thanks!

Edit:
I just saw your other post.

There are a few YouTube videos of guys fully juicing their house.

Sorry. I'm not really making sense of your post or your question.

Your "Unicorn" is out there, you have to look for it.... Like REALLY look for it.
I called literally nationwide, NY, Tennessee, Cali and found mine in Idaho, 9hrs from me.

What are you looking for, exactly? I sit at computers all day long and can help.
(PM me your unicorn)

As for the PB, what are you wanting to juice? A campsite? House? Trailer?
I don't think we are understanding what you are trying to do.
Have we "done it?"

Hello JJ.

* By "done it" I was referring to the title - Upgrading a PowerBoost w/ the default Pro Power-24 to the only option - 7.2
* What will I use it for: I want to be able to power a travel travel, run my house, and emergency charge an EV. Yep, I understand the implications and requirements of same.
* Distance? I'm not going to California, but <600 miles or so is tolerable.

Really look for it: I read Autotrader and Car Gurus daily, have been for some months. I've been close a few times. I've also shared what I'm looking for with a few dealers, but I'm sure I lose their attention quickly. That said it's easy to answer "what's the unicorn?".

As I await the new Ramcharger to both ship and prove itself, I’m looking for an interim half-ton. I’m looking for what seems to be a hard to find truck:

Years: 2021-2022
Model: Ford F-150 PowerBoost
Drive: 4x4
Bed/Wheelbase: Short (not extra short) / 6.5’ bed (157” wheelbase)
Cab: Crew
Colors: Star White Metallic (AZ), then Rapid Red Metallic (D4), next is Oxford White (YZ), or finally Antimatter Blue (HX).
Trim: King Ranch
Miles: Not a big deal, should be relatively consistent with year, but that’s just a $$’s thing.

Required Options:
#601A Equipment Group
#86K Chrome Appearance Package
#53A Trailer Tow Package
#477 Pro Power Onboard -72
#763 - 360 camera

Rejections:
No factory deletes!
Canadian Trucks
Lifted or F’d with

Would Like: (Push come to shove I can correct for these, and it seems likely I will)

53C Max Tow ( instead of 53A)
54W Trailer Tow Mirrors
Bed liner

Open:

Pro Power Onboard 72. Anyway a 2.4 can be upgraded?

Final Details:

What frame does it have? HD or HDPP?
Relatively accident free? (small things aren’t a big deal).

To convert a 2.4 to 7.2kW is about $1k the last 2 times this question was asked.

Buy a generator. It will be cheaper and easier
In what way? Nothing easier than having it built in, a 30+ gallon tank to run it from, and better yet, automatically cycling on and off when needed. I'm blown away by how useful ProPower is.

I agree with you about how useful Propower is! But what you are trying to do is beyond its capabilities.

When I built and purchased mine I was debating if I should spend the extra $$ for the 7.2KW. So I did go ahead and went with it. I have no regret whatsoever, I did use it so many time. It is so convenient with power outage :)

Consider having a truck shipped; this will open up your search canvas to the continental US.

I found the truck I wanted 10hrs away and when I mentioned I'd fly out (~$150 plane ticket) to pick it up they told me they'd ship it to me at their cost. Two weeks later and a man with an obviously-overloaded F150 showed up with my truck on a trailer.

Why do you say that? I’ve done multiple times and exactly what the OP want. Before our whole house genset was installed I powered our house. I’ve used it to power and pull travel trailer. And have once used it to charge a friends ev up enough for him to get to a real charger. All of those things the truck did effortlessly.

You misunderstand me! I’ve used the Propower to power my house. My point is that if the Propower generator is too small to meet all of your electrical needs and you want to buy a generator to use in tandem with the truck then it would be easier and more cost effective to put in a whole house generator and Take care of everything

Yes I did. My apologies. Yeah a 2.4 is “underpowered” for all of that. Agreed.
