Not sure I have seen this on the forums, Is this generator an inverter or does it need to run at 3600RPM to come up with 60 cycles per second?

I don't own a powerboost, but I am learing about them (but we do own a 2020 Escape hybred and I did own a 2018 Cmax)

Yep
If Eco idle is on, the truck will run at 1300 to 1500rpm for 2 to 3 minutes to charge the batteries then the batteries will run whatever you are doing until the get low then the cycle starts again. The batteries will last longer than you would think under load. I hope that is what you are asking. If not, let me know!

To elaborate on @mnstang's comment, the engine simply charges the hybrid battery (via an alternator or using the electric motor as a generator, not sure which) which then feeds an inverter (DC->AC) that makes the correct line frequency and voltage for the outlets. Because of this disconnection, the engine can run at whatever speed is needed to make the battery charging most efficient.

thanks. I was hoping it did not run at 3600 Full time, or even 1800 engine RPM.

If you have Eco Idle ON, it will idle around 1300 rpm. If you have Eco Idle OFF, it will idle at 1000. When I'm sleeping in my trailer overnight I'll set Eco Idle OFF so that the vibrations don't come through the hitch as much. When my trailer is disconnected I set Eco Idle to ON.
