If you are disappointed about the idle time and the fuel usage in generator mode, I gotta wonder what you know that even comes close to it?

I've never seen anything even remotely in the ballpark for quiet, convenience, and frugality.
I don't know if you're replying to me but I'm not complaining. I am just saying that is why the one guy gets such terrible MPG is idling. Read the context.

I only noted that you quoted a previous post "that's a perfect application for the Powerboost"

So that was the context I read your reply in. Obviously I could have misunderstood, but it sounded like you were pointing out what wasn't great about it and long idle times.

Except it's still using fuel to keep the battery charged.

I've done a weekend track day where I pulled into the pits having used approximately one gallon of gas and achieved 30mpg (huge tail wind). I ran the truck as a generator firing during the daytime and it sat at night. My mpg dropped to single digits from idling.
Yes, if you use the truck as a generator, that will end up using fuel.

I'm not talking about that, I'm just talking about driving, and "idling" where it spends about 90% of the time on (and counting the clock on the trip timer), but engine off

It saves a significant amount of fuel vs a regular eco.

I think your generator application might even use less fuel than driving an eco then taking a generator out of your bed and firing it up, too

Is 17.9 mpg city driving a 6,000 lb truck really so terrible?

For my 2014 heavy duty F150 3.5 17.9 mpg is good. Not so good for a Power Boost.

What would the 2014 get if you took over 6 hours to drive 113 miles?

Don't know. Besides, my 74 year old bladder would require at least 2 stops.

Ok apparently I'm mixing up threads because someone was claiming they were getting like 12. THAT is bad MPG.

And yes, my truck's generator is SIGNIFICANTLY softer on fuel than my 9000w Harbor Freight. I'm aware where the fuel goes and why my economy reads like it does. But I STILL do better than 12, wherever I saw that...

I (and we're kind of following a convo that started by quoting my pic of my dash) am talking about the MPG achieved driving about 3 miles each direction at an average speed of 20 or less with idling time

For apples to apples we're talking about getting 16+ MPG with the Powerboost where my 2019 3.5 Eco would get 12-13

Right now I'm getting 18.4 overall where my 3.5 would get about 15-16
