Actually that electric auxiliary transmission pump is shared with the non Powerboost and was in the 10r80 long before the amazing Powerboost was created. That pump is necessary for any truck with auto stop/start, so Ford/GM designed it into the 10-speed from the start.Remember that the Powerboost has an electric transmission fluid pump... So-o-o, if the suction to that pump is lower in the pan and it is programmed to run prior to engine start, that could be the fix. Just speculating...
But I bet you are right and the software is VERY different between the Powerboost and the non-Powerboost.
