Funny you should ask! I don't go above 60mph and I have never felt in danger, but I definitely would not go 65 or 70 with my setup. I haven't experienced greater than 25mph cross winds or so and I just slowed to 55 to feel safe.

This year we have only had 1 kid on one trip and felt the bunk area is just wasted space for us and have downsized to a more open floorplan with more windows everywhere. Plus it is 29'9" instead of 32' so we can hopefully fit into more parks! We just got a new Imagine 2500RL versus the 2800BH in this thread.

The crazy thing is those last 2 feet, plus 500# less unloaded weight to start with, it feels WAY easier already. I'll know more when towing on flat ground as the initial trip was driving home from Reno to Sac and mostly descending down from the 7k summit.

Not sure if this is allowed (admin can remove link if not) but here is my 2800BH listing if anyone is interested and near the Sac area: https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2019-Grand-Design-IMAGINE-2800BH-5016565987
Thank you.. very helpful. We are def not going above 28 total feet

Great OP and thread. I am picking up my new travel trailer tomorrow. This thread has been invaluable. My question: I have been using my 7.2kw generator inverter without a surge protector for my electric blower and shop vac with no issues whatsoever. Since the pro power puts out a pure sine wave at the outlet, is a surge protector necessary or is it overkill? Maybe the answer is a simple, “it can’t hurt so why not?” But as a technical matter is surging etc really an issue with pro power? Is there any downside to using one?

I don't believe the surge guard is needed with the truck, I really just wanted to make sure it ran the diagnostics first, and thought it could give me a 2nd indicator of the current loads if I needed it. I hadn't used it since that initial hookup, and I'm confident that my truck works fine.

I have an 6AWG extension cord between my truck and my 3000QB trailer. I keep getting ground fault errors. Any recommendations where to start trying to trouble shoot it? The extension cord is home made and acts as the 30A to 50A adapter.

I have no idea! When you say "30A to 50A adapter" do you mean your home made cord is 4 pin twist lock (L14-30) on one end and 4 pin 50A trailer on the other end? If so that should just be a straight connection and not cause an issue... As long as you don't exceed 30A on either circuit (which is actually hard to do in a max 2 A/C travel trailer once they route the phases for balance) you should be fine!

Turns out my truck is smarter than I am. I had the ground and neutral reversed. Fixed the wires and it runs perfect. Ran both AC units and the fridge and only pulled 1500w on one leg and 1800w on the other.

That one does not plug into the truck.
Oh duh! Forgot I started with the L14-30 to 14-50 dogbone for my 50A trailer. Then I added the splitter for additional options. My bad

Yeah. I had something similar in my cart.

I just messaged the seller to see if they'll be making anymore of the 30 to 30 split like above.

Awesome thread , and I’ve enjoyed/learned from all the input from every member that posted their experiences. Has anyone tried to use the FordPass app to start the truck, then start the Generator to power your trailer? Or, do we all need to start the truck and the generator from inside the cab?
