I received it today after a short drive - went into the grocery store and got a notification a few min after I parked.

To anyone that has gotten 4.2.1 and has FDRS: Can you check if running a network scan shows a TCU update for your truck now?
😆 aren't you supposed to be relaxing on a cruise somewhere with a drink in your hand! 😆 🤣

I'll check
There's a member on F150 forum "(he's a Ford tech) who received 4.2.1 and then checked his truck with FDRS and installed a TCU update that wasn't there before. He says the TCU update fixed all the connectivity issues his truck had. Trying to verify if getting 4.2.1 triggers that TCU update to pop up in FDRS.

Lol ship sails tomorrow. Today, I'm working and trying to make some money to recuperate what the cruise cost me.

I got it today. I was visiting the dealer for a different issue and it just updated. Perhaps a coincidence, or my truck knew how to connect to the dealer WiFi? In any case it also fixed my FordPass connectivity issue, so win-win.

I just checked FDRS and I do not have a TCU update showing. I was not connected to my truck. I'll check again later when I can connect.

Ford's OTA's are pushed out via cellular only. No, it's not expensive, cell networks are all but idle overnight when its users are sleeping allowing for companies like ford to 'buy' the cheap airtime for things like OTAs.

I watch network devices and their traffic, the F150 in 1 year between home / office location has used less than 500MB of traffic. APIM updates are 4-6GB in size. Not sure what the vehicle does with wifi, but using it for updates isn't one.
