I went from 2.8.1 to 2.8.2 to 2.8.3 over about three weeks. Big gap between 2.8.1 and .2, but .3 was only a few days after .3.
Nice… well I just got 2.8.2 two days after 2.8.1.

I hope 2.8.3 is soon

So a little while ago a dealership claimed to perform a recal related to blue cruise however the update should have taken at least 8 hours and they Only had the truck billed for 1.5 hours. This is F up the entire computer system in my truck. My truck started randomly restarting itself even while driving. I took it to another dealer that has had it for 2 1/2 weeks now and they still have no been able to correct all the issues and over the air updates will not work with my truck. Anyone else experience this or know of any solution? They keep putting calls in to ford but they are slow to respond. I was told they had to wipe the whole truck and start my scratch reloading everything and things keep failing but they can’t figure which module is in default because they all come as ok.

Post's like yours @TruckGal516 are disheartening to read. And honestly, a bit irritating as well since 99% of what you are experiencing and being told simply isn't necessary or accurate.

The dealerships use the same exact software program to "diagnose and repair" your truck as multiple members on this forum have used to do the same. (It's called FDRS and is available via licensing similar to any other software that is installed on an ordinary Windows computer)

The main reason it's so disheartening to hear these stories is that now there is MORE than ample evidence that the vast majority of these dealership fails are simply a matter of not following directions. You ask how I could make such a claim?

There's a rather long thread on this forum that documents how folks have given up on getting their trucks updated/fixed by dealerships and fixed their trucks themselves. The success rate is basically 99% and the technical skillset amongst those that took matters into their own hands varies between scared-to-death & nerd-by-nature. 🤣

It's been rather fascinating to watch over the last few months, to be honest. Your truck isn't special in comparison to all the others. It's absolutely fixable and there are folks here that could answer any questions you might have if you were to take the challenge on.

@Snakebitten thank you for your reply. I’m sure the fix is easier than the dealer is making it seem. Honestly they’re stupid because in NY if they have the truck for 30 days it can be declared a lemon since the issues almost caused me to have an accident while driving (a hassle I don’t want to have to deal with) and they’ve had it 21 days already. If you have any usernames for people I could message directly could you let me know. At this point I’m down for trying to fix it myself.

Have you run across this thread yet? (below)

I realize it has grown into a huge and daunting thread, but if you just read the first couple of posts you will understand the point I was attempting to make.

I personally remember the day Iceman started that thread and I quickly took the bait! My 2021 Powerboost, at the time, was about 20 updates behind. It never visited the dealership a single time and I actually enjoyed discovering how easy it is to become more capable of servicing my truck than the vast majority of techs.

In their defense, they haven't had the history yet to become learned, if you know what I mean. These F150's are like nothing they have ever seen before. Even the FDRS software is new to them.

Hey there! I can look into your F-150’s concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

Look to the right (BOLD) see your version number and in brackets your sync ver number.

What Sync version do you have on your screen?

2.5.3/2.8.3March 2022
  • Minor adjustments[18]
  • Updated Sync to Software Version: 22034_PRODUCT Revision: 364(2.5.3)[19]
  • Updated Sync to Software Version: 22095_PRODUCT Revision: 421(2.8.3)
When I look at the version of my 2022 May 11th truck it shows version 22012_product revision: 321. does this mean I am real far behind? When I say check for updates it finds nothing. How can I fix this?

I believe your 2022 APIM uses a different versioning number than the 2021's.

Or put another way, the Wiki is misleading for 2022 trucks. Your May-2022 truck is fresh as they come.

Trust Ford to make things so dam confusing. I question how their own programmers keep things straight, with all the different numbering systems.

Well the day finally happened and I don’t even know what to say. I’ve waited 1 year and 4 months for the bed cam to work at motion. (Something it should have from new)

Finally… they work. It is cool to see the vehicle update and improve on its own. I finally feel like that high mounted camera serves its purpose… and I’m satisfied.
Updates have also fixed my issue with the myview guage cluster resetting all the time.

I have the 12" screen in my 2021 Lariat, and it's under Settings, About Sync. If you go there, get that info and then head over to the Ford Sync 4 wiki page that lists all the versions and updates, you should be able to match up where you are on your truck.
