Payload vs Max Tow

Any more info to the removal of max tow from the 3.5s and pb? Did the 24s get a redesigned axle? I knew the 5.0 was the best towing option, but Im surprised Ford is agreeing.

My understanding was hdpp had the max tow axle. I would be shocked if the heavier duty axle didnt help. We just dont know what the weakest link is. For a PB with max tow, I doubt its the frame. Springs?

In 24' you can only get it with a 5.0. I became skeptical when they removed it from the 3.5.

Respectfully, I believe that is incorrect.

All versions of the 2024 Order Guide (below excerpt is from the latest / current revision as of this date) show the "Max Tow Axle Upgrade", 3.55:1 ratio, Axle Option Code XL5, available with the 3.5 EB, both 4x2 and 4x4.

This description of the optional Max Tow Axles with 53T is from the earlier Order Guide which is more legible, the text is the same as the later in this regard:

That is interesting. You can't build a 3.5 with max tow, but you can with a 5.0. I wonder if 3.5 wth electronic rear end and tow/haul gives you max tow.

If referring to the retail website 'build and price' it's not uncommon for that to have glitches; more often than not the Order Guide is correct.

Ask your dealer to see if they can 'build' a 3.5EB (other than XL) with Tow Haul Package 53T + Optional Axle Code XL5 in their order system which is real-time connected to the Ford Corporate ordering database.

We talked about it when I purchased my 24' All my salesman said was tow packages changed in 24'. It would more sense that they still offer it. Out of hundreds of trucks I looked at nobody had a 3.5 with max tow so I assumed the info was correct.

Fair enough, but you don't really know for sure until a dealer rep competent, motivated, and diligent in the use of the order system enters the codes to see if they are accepted. Sadly, too many 'salesmen' won't go to the effort to run this sort of thing to ground.

Their website doesn't help. I just tried building an XLT with 3.5 max tow. It's not possible. I can build a 3:55 electronic rear end with tow/haul option. I am curious thought. Again it would make no sense to not offer it.

Ahhh.....I think you can also order a 6.5 bed with blackout package. We can't.

Looks like the Canadian retail site offers max tow for 3.5, but not American. I'll ask my salesman. Thanks for the info.
