I’ve had my truck for about 5 months now and I’ll be honest I haven’t really given it a real wash until last week. While drying the hood I felt what I thought was some sap or something but it wasn’t coming off. I looked closer and it’s some type of debris/paint imperfection UNDER the clear coat. It’s right at the front of the passenger side hood ridge just to the left of center if looking from the front.

I had a service appointment for Monday regarding some other quality issues that got rectified without any real push back. Today the dealer told me they took it to their detailer and said there’s nothing they can do as it’s under the paint. I replied back (it was text message) saying isn’t that a warranty issue? I didn’t get a response and they closed about a few minutes after. Given how quick they were to fix my other issues I don’t think they are being shady but this is something Ford would need to fix or reimburse if I seek to have it fixed?

It seems petty but the price isn’t very petty so I feel it’s something they would need to fix. I don’t have any photos of it but I’ll take some when I go to the dealership tomorrow.

I had an issue with my Tacoma where it looked like some nicks in the paint that was then cleared over. They told me the option would be an entire repaint but since there was no issue in the clear and being young I said forget it. So I know some manufacturers/dealers would try to make it right.

IIRC it's covered under 3 yr/36k miles for defect. I have some issues with my paint on the bottom of my passenger rear door. Some debris got under the paint, and am planning on brining it to my dealer's attention when I go in for my first oil change.

That’s what I was thinking the 3/36. It’s a factory defect and it’s not like it’s just off color. There’s an actual raised portion of clear/paint so say I ever wanted to place a vinyl wrap it wouldn’t work there. Minuscule in the grand scheme but near center hood isn’t really a place I can forget about it.

Also I think you were in my build group from July

Since it’s under the paint this should be a it and dry case. I should be a warrantable defect, as there’s no way you could’ve put that there without unless you repainted it yourself. So few people paint these days, I doubt that would be an argument they’d use

I mean I have in their writing saying it’s under the paint just she Said it was something they couldn’t do anything about. I’m afraid I’ll have to push the issue up.

Hey there! Can you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to look into your truck's paint issues on my end.
