Hey folks, we've had ours for about a month now and absolutely love it. I paint corrected it a few days after brining it home then hit it with 2 coats of ceramic while shooting the undercarriage with fluid film. I then had the driver & passenger windows tint matched with the rears with a partial PPF application on the bumper, hood and leading roof edge. Grabbed some husky xact floor matts for the front & rear. End game is whipple (4th coyote build but first on the F150 platform, huge mustang fan).

I'm greatly looking forward to many adventures with my family in the truck, we cover a ton of ground traveling (hence all the protection). I had planned on a traditional leveling kit but as I get older I'm beginning to appreciate easy access for my family and I so I may end up going with a mild drop shackle in the rear vs. bumping the front up.

Thanks y'all!

-Mike

I was going to hold off on aftermarket wheels & tires until spring but I got a great deal from JD @BRINK WHEELS on these B103 Fangs and picked up 5 for a full-size spare. These are 20x9 with a +18 offset. A bit more aggressive than stock but not so aggressive that I'll be tearing up paint down the side of the truck over the coming years. I had these bookmarked because I wanted a classic 5 or 6 spoke design. The tinted clear on their Vivid Titanium finish adds a lot of depth, I've got some CQuartz DLUX ceramic left over that I'll apply before getting tires mounted.

I also grabbed a set of the Ford Performance rear drop shackles to pull out some of the rake. I don't plan on lifting this truck. I'll likely go with a 285/55 A/T, not sure which yet.

Got the Brink Venoms +18 with 275/60R20 Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek along with the Ford Performance drop shackles to pull out some of the rake. Loving the setup so far.

Curious what made you change your mind from a Whipple to a Vortech turbo?

It was a tough choice for sure. It came down to the following:

- I don't want to deal with excessive throttle modulation in a low-end torque monster that also needs to serve as a DD work-truck all year around. With the 10-speed, a pulley swapped V3 Si can still be stomped on without getting too squirrely from a dig but also offers enough top-end advantage run just about anything down if need be.

- I appreciate the simplicity and efficiency from an engineering perspective.

- Initial cost ended up being a wash when compared to the Whipple kit but I'm better provisioned to scale for less with the Vortech from a fueling perspective in the event I wanted to down the road.

- I've never ran a centri and have always wanted to. I've just been waiting to get back into a sensible (cost to output ratio) platform to do so.

- Finally the character they impart : o ) They sound like rolling warfare and move the f out...

Thanks for your candidness. I installed a FP/Whipple and have about 1000 miles on it now. Just tooling around, in traffic, stop and go, daily stuff, I don't notice any significant throttle difference vs stock; very factory if you will. I thought I would be feathering the throttle more often but that hasn't been the case at all.

I've been eyeballing the @BRINK WHEELS Fang 20x9 +18 but in black. After seeing your build underway, I've been thinking about removing the FP level kit and lowering the rear end instead. At the time, going up helped the rake. I never thought of lowering the back end to help the rake 🤷‍♂️

Keep us updated on your progress!

@TexasTruck that is the beauty of a belt driven twin screw blower, the power comes on when you actually want it. It’s also the most consistent power adder, almost like adding cubic inches. It’s always there, every time, and the same way. No funny business trying to build boost etc, no botched runs. It’s just there.

Truck is looking real nice!
What tires are you running and size? Also what did you have to do clear the wheels, spacers?

For racing the Vortech is more “lead foot friendly”, hence the statement about not having to worry about throttle modulation. Centris have gained a lot of traction (no pun intended) over the past decade or more due to being easier to race. Boost builds with RPM on a center vs always having max boost with a twin screw, if memory serves me correctly anyways

Cooper discover rugged trek in the stock 275/60R20 size. No spacers. No rubbing at full lock etc. The wheels are +18 offset so a little more aggressive than stock but not enough to have to worry about rubbing on a stock sized tire.

I'm beside myself with excitement. The injectors, XCT handheld, VMP pump booster and plugs shipped very quick from Beefcake. 5 Star has already sent my base tune. I had all that squared away within a week. My black optioned kit with the Maxflow BOV took roughly 3 weeks directly from Vortech, not bad. Nearly all visible items are powder coated. Packaging is top notch and whoever they use for powder is fantastic.

I'll get some better shots once I get this stuff in the garage, all parts are bagged and QC tagged by category. Instructions are crystal clear. I'll create a separate post covering the install for sure, I'm hoping to break into it this weekend.

It is exciting to say the least when all the components come together! The Whipple Kit is the same way. Every part is labeled and checked by a human and signed off. That doesn't mean mistakes can happen, but it helps. These guys have thought of everything for the average wrench turner IMO. I’m sure the Vortech install steps are just about as "basic" as the Whipple is 🙂

I can't wait to see your install!
