I'm starting to think this is the way. My update failed two days ago and not a peep since. Who knows when it will try again...Ford is not very good at this!

If that cable was not over $500 I prob would bite the bullet.
I got lucky and found one used on ebay when I got mine. Took a while to find one, but eventually one popped up. I got it for half what they cost new.

Just make sure it is for Fords. The guy I got it from didn't have a manufacturer listed on it, so I asked for the model # and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I think if he had it advertised as a Ford one or with the part number in the listing, someone would have scooped it up before I had the chance to.

Thanks for the heads up. So, if one gets the cable, you just download the updates to the truck through FRDS? Is it fairly straightforward? I know the license is $50 for two days but not sure how hectic the actual process is.

You have a 2022 that has all the older updates already on it, so yes, it will be straight forward in your case.

You can also get on the list in my "Community Mongoose Thread" and "borrow" mine. Right now, you would have two people ahead of you.

I got my notification for 3.5.3.2 via my App two days ago and notification for 3.5.4 yesterday.
You gentlemen sure get my pea brain thinking. My truck got 3.5.2 on Sept. 16. Since then I think I've only checked which software update my truck has a few times, mostly out of curiosity driven by this forum. I've wondered if my updates are delayed due to my sketchy WIFI signal where the truck is parked. I checked Monday this week and was excited to see the 3.5.3.2 notification on Jan 27. More specifically full screen. Then on Tuesday I was surprised to see the 3.5.4 notification. So much for the questionable WIFI connection.

As to which trucks get which updates when, I wonder if it has anything to do with model or production date? Meaning PB, non-PB, older production dates first, or not, etc? Not to overstate the obvious, Ford's logic behind which vehicles get what updates and when has to be quite complicated. Then adding in OTA connectivity issues from owner to owner adds another layer.

Hats off to all y'all smart folks with FDRS and Mongoose cables.

So it's hard to figure this out. I have a 2022. I was on 3.5.1. I had alexa. Then without warning I had 3.5.2. No notifications on my ford app. No notifications on my sync screen.
I ordered the mongoose cable a couple days ago because I was stuck on 3.5.1 and ips stated it tried to update to 3.5.3.2 but gave up and will try later. Like next month? Truck would have needed 3.5.2 ?

Oh I just see on the update status
At 1:51 I sent a feedback about not getting updates.
Right away my request was queued.
6 min later a trigger was created. At 10:30pm Ota trigger available.
At 10:31 mother checked my truck.
Then several packages uploaded finishing at 10:47pm
At 11:11pm the update is available to activate on my truck

That update was 5.3.2. The one I was waiting for.
Then....
At 11:27 another update sequence started. OTAM conditions not correct
4 attempts until 11:58
At 11:58. An error of "vehicle inhibit error" causes campaign final error.

So I did get 5.3.2. and ford tried to send 3.5.3.2 right after but failed. I did not drive the truck for three days so I though I was still on 3.5.1 but in reality I WAS on 3.5.2. And didn't know it
As it turned out Ford tried to update from 3.5.2 to 5.3.3.2 in rapid succession but I know for a fact I was messing around at that time pulling my ipma out to get the part number. I didn't get it back together until 1 am.

One take away is my feedback triggered a update???
Sure looks like it.
This photo shows the failed 3.5.3.2

Did I assume my sending a feedback triggered this? It started exactly the time I send it. I was working with jessi at that time. He was remoted in trying to activate apa. That was when he figured out that there was missing chip on my ipma causing dtc's for the outside sensors.

I went from 3.5.2 directly to 3.5.4. Haven't tried full screen CarPlay yet, but the dreaded ProPower Onboard Service Required message has recurred after my first car wash with 3.5.4. I had this issue before, as did several others on the forum, after every car wash or after driving through rain. A previous OTA update appeared to fix the issue. It's been well over a year since I last had the problem.

I haven't seen anyone post about this showing up with 3.5.X yet, so the timing may be a coincidence.

@rugedraw thanks for the help!
You looked up my vin about a week ago.

My truck successfully downloaded 3.5.3 today! I think it was stuck for about one week.

I was driving down the road and the screen powered off and back on, 3.5.3 was there.

Cell service was good, definitely not near any AT&T towers. Wasn't home on WiFi.

Automatic updates were toggled on.
A schedule was set and turned on.

Every other day for one week I submitted feedback through the screen that wireless updates didn't work.

That's all I know.

Another surprise ota from Ford today.

It looks like after buying the mongoose and updating my truck a few weeks ago has somehow triggered all the ota updates lol
