Yes. Around me, the Plats are easier to find than the Lariats.
Ok good. Didn't want ya steppin' down and paying $7k more....

As others have said make sure there are no deletes. '22's are a rool of the dice.

I want to know what you are towing that the 5.0 can’t keep up with the 3.5. I’ve never been unable to maintain a speed limit with my boat even on insane grades. And it never goes above 3,500 rpm or so on hill pulls. If the 5.0 can’t maintain speed limit on a hill it’s time to move up from a half ton truck…..cuz you’ve got to much weight behind you!
I never said the 5.0 can’t maintain speed limits. However, the times I towed my 7000 lb Airstream in Colorado, I found a 3.5 was about the only thing passing me.

If on an incline (hill, going through a mountain pass, or etc.) and you found yourself changing lanes from behind a slow moving truck going 45 MPH and had to dig into the gas pedal to get back up to speed, a 3.5 will get there faster than the 5.0. That’s what I was saying.

Did they make a 22 Lariat BAP with the 2.7?

this is why your fuel economy isn’t great.
Hogwash. The difference is the amount of highway miles vs city. Plus driving habits....braking, etc.

I have the 5.0/ 3.73 gears and have gotten over 24 mpg on a tank.

When cruising at 65 mph in 10th gear, you would have to make a radical jump in gears to notice any difference.

If you Google 2022 F150 Lariat or Platinum Black Appearance Package, you should get some pictures.

Ive seen em, but except for the grille, side badges and rims I dont know the diff. Might be best to get a 2.7Lariat and dress up a "BAP" truck....?

Very few trailers that come with tires rated for above 65 MPH. They exist but you generally have to upgrade your rubber. People do it anyway, camper guys blow by me at 80 MPH on my way home from work and out to the cabin. Only takes one blow out to kill a bunch of people.
Jayco trailers have come with Goodyear Endurance which are speed rated for 85 mph since the latter half of the 2017 model year.. There are other major trailer lines that have started using GY Endurance tires.

I'm driving a 2021 F150 Platinum FX4 5.0 3.73 6.5. I'm struggling with the fact that a 6.5 bed is a pain, fuel mileage isn't great as I'm seeing 16MPG, and the turning radius is terrible. I've been eyeing up a 2022 F150 PB FX4 3.73 5.5. It would cost me approximately $5-$7K to get into it. The truck is a year newer with half the miles.

Opinions? Thoughts?

As a fellow that lives just east of the Twin Cities in Wisconsin and not far off of I-94 after having a 19 701a 5.5' bed max tow 3.5EB bought in Hudson WI that went to a 21 302a XLT PB 5.5' bed bought way up north in Virginia MN.

Number 1 cold weather isn't a place for good winter fuel mileage and a PB. The fuel mileage for a PB from late fall 32F and lower thru winter to mid spring 32F when the temps stay higher than 32F just plain sucks and is at or lower than a normal 3.5EB truck. Summer grocery getter mileage fantastic.

Number 2 go out and drive a PB at Western MN or I-94 / I-90 speeds and above well again the same fuel mileage as a 3.5EB equipped truck.

Now have a 22 XLT 302a 2.7 EB with the 2.7EB payload package which includes 3.73 gearing and this combo is sweet. 2nd choice was a 22 302a XLT 5.0, towing with 3.73 gearing.

Before jumping into a PB go the smaller right screen of the 12" center display and bring up the Acceleration, deceleration and braking screen and monitor your driving style you"ll be amazed what you"ll find out about yourself.

DO NOT buy a used PB unless your ready to be a gluten for punishment. There right now are 2 types of PB's out there good ones which people keep and bad ones that people cannot run away from fast enough. Don't get me started on the run away part.

24 Platty or KR no 5.0 all are 3.5EB or 3.5 power boosts

Let’s take all that as true. That leaves us with a truck that gets as good mpg as the 3.5 EB, and even better during the summer around town, all while being more powerful and having 7.2kW of AC power on board plus far superior idling capability.

The PowerBoost is the best half ton truck ever made.

Yup. I had lots of 5-6minute 9mpg unloaded trips in my powerboost a few winters ago. I think a block heater might have been helpful. Even in the summer if the engine was cold, trip was under 5m and not downhill, I wasn't breaking 18mpg. Overall I ended up around 22mpg when sold.

She was pretty though. For my driving through all seasons the 2.7l would get similar mpg. 5.0 probably 1-2 mpg less, but I save significant $ per mile with e85.

Like samson says PB gives you lots more than mpg like a generator, rear locker, no gas idle, longer brake life and silly amounts of torque, but just hopefully not issues.

Ive also seen lots of bad experiences with the 2017-20 3.5s so I may be biased away from that engine. Not to mention the 18-20 5.0 was apparently a disaster too.

Now about that beautiful 21....

I bought my '22 Platinum Powerboost used with 9,000 miles on it. It's been basically trouble-free with just a couple of small things like stereo static noise that happened once or twice really no problems.
Getting the extended warranty with the CPO ended up being a remarkable deal.
Having a '15 EB with the crappiest MPG (usually 16.8) ended up being one of the laughable gimmicks Ford came out with.

The seller is supposedly getting rid of it due to wanting 3rd row seating and purchased an SUV instead.

Is there a way to run a VIN and see if it's been a problem child minus Carfax?
