I have a trim tool kit because I do so much work on my vehicles, but that particular cover comes right off with your fingers. A trim kit is handy fr the trim on the door post though.
Pull from sides, or top/bottom? As you can tell, I don’t want to break something that might be on National backorder! 🤣

I do not remember having to pull the cover behind the rear view mirror on my 2023. I ran a long USB cable around the windshield and down the pillar to the module located on the driver's side near the floorboard. The generic instructions from CommaAI are not correct for the F150 (2021-2023). There is a link earlier in this thread that shows where it connects.

it just helps to hide the cable better to run under the cover

Ajzride is spot on - Make sure you unplug the USB power from the Comma3x when updating via FDRS or Forscan. The Comma3x will cause issues if it is powered on during updates. I have first hand knowledge 😀
Question regarding updates. Does anyone know if this applies to over the air updates as well?

Comma shouldn't affect OTAs. We've had several members report getting them with no issues.

No issues at all with OTA. However with FDRS my comma intercepted the signals and caused the truck to not see the ABS module.

Has anyone with a lifted/leveled f150 installed the comma ? Ever since I leveled my truck the on center steering got really twitchy. I noticed it without and with bluecruis. Now with comma. It's still dithers back and forth at any speed over 60 except during turns and maneuvers. During straight driving it still ping pongs.

I heard f150s experience this when leveling or lifting and not fixing the upper controll arm geometry. I intend to get some Icon billet uppers with some adjustment.
