I didn't do my first oil change until about 7k which is a bit longer than I wanted, but I opted to go full synthetic and will probably do it every 6-7k.

I did my first at 1250mi with Mobil1 oil and filter (M1-212a), and again at 5,000mi. and again at 10,000. I'll be doing it every 5k miles on mine, regardless of what the Oil life readout tells me. The only issue with changing your oil more is the damage to your pocketbook...
You are doing exactly what I'm doing. Mobil1 and NAPA gold filter every 5000 miles. As for the damage to my pocketbook, oil changes are cheap compared to timing chain issues etc. Or a complete engine rebuild. My new toy deserves it.

My 2015 3.5 that I just traded off on my 2022 had 183,000 trouble-free miles on it. The engine had 4977 hours on it, and 878 of that was idle hours.

The first oil change was at 4000 miles, all others were between 7000 and 10000 mile intervals.

I always used Penzoil Ultra Platinum full synthetic with the OEM Motorcraft filters.

Also, if the current generation is like the previous generation, the oil life monitor doesn't actually monitor the oil life. It is just a reminder that goes off every 10,000 miles after the last time it was reset.

Has anyone figured out the Oil Drain Plug gasket part number? JUST the little rubber o-ring that's nested inside the drain plug flange. I have not; I can only find the entire drain plug... help!

Thanks. It looks like the bolt and gasket come as one if you haven't checked out these sites already. I'm going to order a spare and plan to reuse the existing one.

I did check, which is why I was hoping someone knew about just the gasket vs. both. I don't want to drop over $5 to buy a new bolt every oil change... hopefully someone knows?

I'm posting this in every thread I can find applicable as I believe this is beneficial real world information.

I come from the "leave the truck stock and follow what the manual says" school of thought

I just did an oil change on my new 21 3.5 EB at 4000 km.
holy chite, guys, what a difference I noticed immediately.
The local shop had Pennzoil Ultra Platinum on sale.
what I noticed immediately:
  1. slightly more response
  2. smoother ride overall
  3. quieter
  4. slight power increase
  5. no more or less lurching when throwing it into D from P (though not sure if that had anything to do with it? maybe coincidence?)

I'm 100% synthetic now.
no questions

I asked the parts center at the local dealer and they said they don't have a part number for the gasket; it's integrated with the drain bolt. They reuse the existing gasket on the drain bolt until the technician determines that it needs to be replaced. At that point they replace the integrated drain bolt and gasket. He wouldn't say how often they replace them, but the impression I got was that it's very infrequent.

Not the answer you were looking for, but Ford doesn't offer it at this point.

Mine is an O-Ring. There are a number of websites where you can order O-Rings by size, you'll probably have to order a pack of 5 ot 10. If you lost the O-Ring Measure the inside & outside diameter then the height (eg how deep is the O-rng seat depression in the bolt and double that for height or cross section. Then pay attention to the O-Ring compatibility with your engine oil & temperature rating.

I did my first oil change late last year per maintenance reminder on the truck, I Believe the first oil change was done around 16000km. When dealership did the oil change, the sticker they put on for the next oil change said to be done at 22000kms, But my oil life is still at 60% ? Do I go by what sticker states or wait until oil life is at 10 - 15 %. The truck has never towed anything and is never driven hard. Highway driving 90% of the time.

I did mine first on arrival home from the dealer. Why? To get rid of manufacturing residue. No matter how hard Ford (or other makers) try, there will be some residual "stuff" inside the engine, so I do this as a means of cleaning out the engine. Then I began at 3,000 miles. I put a special filter on the engine from Canton Racing Products that filters down to 8 microns. The best a typical filter does is on the order of 40 microns. I am now doing oil analysis with Blackstone Laboratories. They have progressively recomended intervals that are now at 10,000 based on the analysis results.
