On the second analysis I added the TBN test. It showed a correlation between the oil life monitor and the remaining life of the oil that I was using. That is to say I had a small buffer of oil life remaining when the oil life monitor showed 0%.
That’s just one data point, however. I had some harsh conditions in that interval with a fair bit of towing. If anything I expect the oil life monitor to understate the condition of the oil. This far the interval is around 10k miles and I’m comfortable with that, presuming a high quality full synthetic oil.
