Why Maverick and not Ranger? This is the equivalent to Chevy making the Blazer a car.

The Ranger is another vehicle already in production. My sister has one, and it's about the same size as an F150 from the 70's.

The new Maverick will be about the size of the old Ranger that I used to drive in the 90's.

Hmm... I am not a fan of the name and it just seems to be another "camel" of ambiguous design; jack of all trades, master of none.

I don't understand why Ford has to keep using vehicle names from the past. The Maverick was a cheap $1995 car from the early 70s and now its back as a truck

That is not only Ford. The original Dodge Charger was a two door, not a four door.

It is based on the cost of trademarks and brand identity. There is a lot of time anear money that has to be spent to ensure that the new name you are coming out with it not owned by another company, and that the name does not have any negative implications in other markets (think NOVA in Spanish).

Once you have something that has made it through that process, it makes sense to continue to reuse it.
