I was impressed with the 2.7 EcoBoost on the test drive event. I may regret the MPGs later, but I ordered the 3.5 EcoBoost on my build because as the guys on Top Gear would say; “SPEED AND POWER!!!!” ???
I have a 2017 2.7 twin turbo and get up to 25 doing 75 80 mph cross county. I have actually had the gauge read 29 MPG doing 45 mph.

My salesman, who’s been selling Fords for decades and also sold me my Bullitt, says I’d have to shoot him before he’d let me buy the 2.7. Said it had reliability issues at least early on, and it takes a resell hit compared to the 5.0 and the 3.5. I got the 5.0 on the lot because it had the equipment I wanted. There was a 3.5 that was bare-bones but DAMN that 3.5 was smooth and sweet. I don’t know if the 3.5 would give me any better MPG real-world than the 5.0.
Trust me. The mpg average is worst with the 3.5 than with the 5.0l. I've got one and i do 14.7 mpg in city on an average of 5 years. I follow it with gaz buddy. I know it's a 2015 but i'm sure that the second generation won't do better.

I know driving style and fuel in different parts of the country play a part in the MPGs each person will get.

I can not figure out how someone with a 3.5 could get 15 MPG driving unloaded. I get that towing my 19 ft bass boat.

This was my life average on my 2018 at 9500 miles. There were a lot of miles towing my boat on this also, I'm retired and fish year round.

I wish I had taken a photo when I sold the truck at 19,000, it was a little over 19 MPG.

I know the 2018 had the 10 speed tranny (which I love) and a little more power than my 2015 and it did get about 2 MPG better than my 2015 doing the same driving.

I'm a big 3.5 eco fan, I love lots of low end torque. When I drove the PowerBoost in Atlanta it felt like I had a diesel motor, It had tons of low end torque. I was grinning big time:love:

I wish the 2.7 would be available as power boost option. I really don't understand why the hybrid setup is not available across the lineup.?

I would think it was the R&D and additional production cost they would have had to do. Could show up in later model years.

I was surprised the 3.5 had a big power upgrade but not the 2.7, guess they can only do so much in one MY.

Perhaps he has a lot of hills, like I do in SW PA. I’ve heard your mileage really takes a hit in the EB’s in hilly terrain.

I live in Quebec, Ca. So you know that we got winter time here. Minus 20 to 30 °C during january and february isn't rare. So the more it's cold the most it drink. It's under 0° from end october till mid april. And i love to step in the turbos too.

That is probably the case. It seems like the hybrid PowerBoost is a pretty complex system. Testing it and making it “Built Ford Tough” for each powertrain would take a lot of time.

Come to think of it the electric motor is connected as part of the transmission. There really shouldn't be that much effort to make it work. I guess the drive shaft is a little shorter on the hybrid too.

Well there is a lot of stuff mounted to the engine area but still not sure what would be that different from the 3.5.
