Hey guys

I have a barely broken in HDPP 4x4 Maxtow truck. Just crossed over 2k miles this afternoon. Tuned with Livernois Tow tune running 89octane in this tank

I have a Bilstein 6112/5160 level, Upper control arms and Roadmaster RAS HD and a 2in block in the back for a total of 2inch lift in the rear

35x1250r18 BFG ko2 on Method MR314 wheels +18 offset

All the suspension and wheels/tires went on at 200miles, so I have a few weeks of driving it around.

Trailer should be around 3600lbs and Ditch witch was just over 5900 as shown, for a total of 9500Lbs.

I also have a Decked drawer setup in the truck with lots of stuff.

Truck did great. I got around 9mpg

Sag was managed great, steering was good and brakes did well also. All in all, it was a rather uneventful tow trip.

I'm coming from a 2006 F250 6.0L PSD. This truck has almost the same payload, and is rated at 4k HIGHER Tow rating. Tow mirrors are wonderful, I added a wide angle rear view mirror that was helpful when I was navigating 5hrough 3 and 4 lane traffic in Dallas.

It was annoying having the reminder that driver assist stuff was off ding every 30 seconds. Is there a way to disable the constant reminder?

Nice looking HDPP. I was very close to ordering one myself.

Is that a pic of your Old Super duty that's burnt out? If so, what happened?

Regarding the driver assist noise; did you have it in tow/haul mode and trailer lights/brakes hooked up? I tow a travel trailer and a utility trailer and don't get annoying reminders.

My old F250 went up in flames about 3 months ago. It was my baby, and I kept immaculate care of it. Tons of custom work and upgrades. I had just gotten new leather and new tires about a month before it immolated. I was planning on using it to help a friend start a disposal/ construction hauling business...

Went from this

Notice the melted aluminum from the radiator

I ran over a steel bumper or a fender that fell off a truck in front of me, on the highway doing about 75. Dashboard lit up with warning lights instanly. It wedged under, and I dragged it about 60-80 yards to where I could get off the shoulder. By the time I hopped out and popped the hood, it already had smoke pouring out of the underside. I opened the hood, thinking it broke an oil line or was touching the exhaust and smoking, but there were flames already coming up the firewall.

That first picture, is about 3 minutes after it happened. I had already talked to 911, and got my kids car seats out, grabbed a tool bag out of the bed. Driver tire popped, and I ran away, it hurt getting peppered with hot glass and shit all over.

I'm a General Contractor, so lots of tools and stuff went up in flames, but I didn't want to chance it. Insurance took care of it, and my new truck i had ordered in Feb came, about 6 weeks later.

I did have the lights and everything else connected.

I had rented this trailer before, several times, so I went ahead and created a trailer profile and saved it on the truck.

I had the trailer and Ditch witch connected and disconnected 3 times during this job, and it kept doing it. So I don't thi k it was something I was doing wrong.

It kept telling the reverse sensors and rear cross traffic alert were disable, because I had the trailer connected, which is fine, and it to be expected. BUT.... it kept coming back after I pressed "OK", and even if I didn't press it, it still kept making the warning chime.

It briefly told me the trailer brake controller was unavailable, but this trailer isn't braked, and it never came back, after I pressed "OK"

It's not a huge deal, just mildly annoying

I'm torn between DDs and Alpharex, ill see if they have some sales in the next few weeks and take plunge, I feel like it's the only thing that's missing now...

I'll do a brief build thread shortly

I had an issue when I first hooked up to my utility trailer using the circular to flat 4 adapter which Ford supplies with the truck but I don't remember what the message was that I was getting. That ended up being an open circuit in the adapter. I bought a new adapter from Advanced Auto and solved the problem instantly.

Jesus! This is just another reason I prefer staying off highways. We have douchebags hauling stuff not paying attention or just POS vehicles (especially here in Oklahoma where we dont have annual MVI) on the road that shouldn't. Glad nobody was hurt. Looks like an oil/electrical related fire.

Ford went to a fully boxed frame in 2016 which increased the GVWR for their pickups. GM did this in 2011 and Ram in 2013 and 2014.

I keep a fire extinguisher and a 4" Crescent wrench in my trucks. Twice I have stopped electrical fires by use the wrench to disconnect the positive cable of the battery. Beats having to stand beside the vehicle and watch it burn.

Depends on the car. I watched my '88 LeSabre burn to the ground on the side of the highway.
The only thing that sucked was..... I was watching my car burn. On the side of the highway.

Believe me, I had no shortage of tools in the truck, but it was already on fire when I popped the hood.

Super duty trucks have 2 batteries, so disconnecting one wouldn't do much, and they're on opposite sides of the truck.

I did have a fire extinguisher in the truck, that's why I went rummaging in the back seat, once I saw the flames. I had to get a car seat out of the passenger side, to be able to flip the seatback down, and it was still out of reach... I had no intention of climbing into the cab with flames licking the front seats

Sometimes, there isn't much left to do except stand back and watch it burn... the fire department was on site in about 15 minutes, and even then, there wasn't anything left to save.

Notice that my Diamondback HD cover and toolbox melted, there was not much left other than a puddle of aluminum in the corner of the bed.

I feel lucky that diesel burns instead of explode, like gas does, and even then, there was plenty of explodey stuff that kept peppering us standing about 30 yards away.

When one of the tires popped, it sent chunks of glass and a piece of the strut that held up the truck cover flying WAY over to the ambulance, it was about 80-100 yards away. I was amazed how far it went.

Glad that neither one of my kids was with me at the time, 6 and 2, I can't even imagine dealing with all that...

I mounted a fire extinguisher in my wife's car and my new truck, the day I got it.

Mine is under the front portion of the driver's seat, so I can reach it super easily.

Second one in the bed, tucked on the side.

Not that it would have saved the truck, but if it's smoking from under the hood, don't open it. Same principle as not opening doors during a house fire, opening the hood would have fed it oxygen to burn faster. Some (all?) vehicles have a fire retardant liner under the hood to help smother flames and prevent it from spreading as well, but it won't work with the hood open.
