Of course this was done on a closed track, correct? ;)

I read on the Ford web site the new F-150 is limited to 107 mph. = 172.2 kmh.

So the 173kph would be correct. Funny my phone GPS was off. I normally would have expected that to be more accurate, but clearly not the case. I know automakers also take into account tire wear/size, but usually only varties a couple mph.

Update: a couple of mph would account for the couple of kph between gps and speedo 100%

Previous F-150s have been governed/limited to 108MPH or 175 KPH, so that is right in line with the older generations.

I can verify it kicks in at 107. My 3.5 had a LOT left in it too.

My previous gens have all been governed at 160kph in Canada 2004 (4.6) , 2008(5.4) 2012 (3.5 Eco) all with 3.55 locking. 2021 has 3.73 locking. Drove a buddy's 2019 Ecoboost 3.5 with 3.55 and it also shut off at 160kph

Might be something they do for Canadian bound trucks. I think the bigger Super Dutys are limited to 98 or 99MPH (160KPH).

Some trucks are shipped with A/T tires which aren’t rated for the higher speeds. So the speed is limited from the factory for the OEM tires. I think that other factors are some vehicles with two piece drive-shafts. I believe there’s a famous video of a V6 Mustang that has the drive-shaft come apart after the speed limiter is removed.

Once, I drove an older 4cyl. RWD Ranger, I think the speed limiter was set at 82mph indicated. If you went faster the limiter cut in and bounced the speed down to 75mph. A real drag and on a highway trip, you could bare keep up with traffic.

I experienced that in some Canadian provinces, it’s understood between towns there won‘t be any speed traps. So, during the day, you can travel at a more spirited pace. However, at night, you really shouldn’t go faster than 50mph, or else a moose will ruin your evening!

That would be a "MyKey" limiter, not the top speed limiter.

Yes, I realize this is an old thread.
