Discount Tire has the Recon Grappler in a 275/65/20 SL

I called to confirm this. I wasn’t aware that they made at 275/65/20. Has anyone ran this? If so your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Why not check websites for tire stores and read the reviews by people who have purchased the tires and written reviews. Better than taking the advice of people who have no direct experience with them on their trucks.

For those that made the switch to the Recon Grapplers in 275/65/20 SL, can you provide an update on the tires?

how do they do in the rain?

Have they gotten significantly louder since new?

6700 miles on mine. No noise that I notice. No problems in the rain, and it hasn't seen any snow in Houston. Still happy with the tires.

That's good to know about wet weather/rain performance because I've experienced some pretty bad hydroplaning with the stock Goodyear wranglers. Twice I nearly hydroplaned straight into the center dividers / jersey barriers on the highway. I will be putting on Nitto Recon Grapplers in 295/70/18 as soon as possible.

I've seen other people complain about ridge grapplers in the rain. I've driven these recons in the rain and not notice any slipping at all. That said, I drive the truck pretty conservatively taking off from a stop on corners, and I haven't hit any high water on the highway, yet. So I can't say with aggressive driving in the rain, but I haven't noticed any slipping while driving conservatively in the rain.

The hydroplaning was while I was cruising down the highway below the speed limit and it was a shallow puddle. *** this is with the stock Goodyear Wranglers 275/65/18 on the '22 FX4 Lariat.***

Also looking at the Recon Grapplers in the 275/65/R20. I am looking for more sidewall in the tire but not looking for the LT tire. I currently have the Ridge Grapplers in a 275/60/R20 116XL (47lbs) and they look nice but they suck in the rain. Maybe its the rear wheel drive but starting from a dead stop and accelerating (I drive a PowerBoost), I tend to skid very easily. I wasn't too happy with the highway handling in the rain as well. Not much snow experience and the noise isnt too bad for a hyrbid. As for MPG, if cruise control is set to 65, ill get about 22MPG, if its my foot and I'm cruising above 70-75, its about 19MPG. I am curious if those are similar or better numbers in the Recons? I know tire weight isn't everything as I previously tried to Mickey Thompson Baja Boss in similar weight/p rated....the rolling resistance in those tires dropped me in the 17-18 MPG range.

Honestly, just think it fills the space better. My 295/60 Coopers are 61 lbs and the 275/65 Recons are 48 lbs. So for travel (no trailer) and winter weather I will run the Recons on the stock Sport 20s.
Wow…I was looking hard at weight when I bought tires. I kept circling back to the KO2’s because they were 60# in 295/60r20. But I kept waiting for the KO3’s to come out. Finally lost my patience and went with 275/65r20 as that is the only size the KO3 is offered in (except 17”). They were still only 60# and 34” tall and I trust them. So far, they are fine, but have not tested them on inclement weather or trail yet. Ride is a bit stiffer but I do tow as much as 12,000# from time to time so I wanted a tire with high weight load rating as well. I trust the KO2’s so I assume the KO3 will be as good or better (ask me in a few years).
