Looks good, Keep us posted on the results!
Can you even imagine me being mum? 🙄🤣🤣

But let's just say I reported every 3-4000 miles (oil change interval) and neither bolt has sheared.
I put myself in the shoes of every other Max Tow axle owner, including those who have never sheared a bolt, or have sheared one bolt, and even those who have sheared bolts more than once.
Probably only someone with multiple sheared bolts would consider the fuss? :)

So why do I bother?
Because YOU sent me that link to McMaster-Carr and it was just too tempting not to.

I’m still waiting on parts. Dealer just called to tell me Ford rejected the original parts order because they needed photos of the odometer and the vin tags with axle code before they could release parts.

Is anyone else having issues getting new bolts? I thought these were readily available now and it wasn’t going to be difficult to have this fixed.

Sounds like to me the dealership didn't follow the written instructions on the recall for ordering the new axle/hub.
My dealership submitted the order without following the directions as well. Order got rejected.

But it only added the 1 day to the repair. Both axle/hubs were received next day after order submitted.

By the way, they are not just replacing a sheared bolt. You can order the bolts anytime anywhere online.

I guess I didn’t realize they were replacing the hub and axle as well.

So is it confirmed that the recall affects only vehicles built up to 12/25/22? I have a max tow built on 3/20/23 and haven't seen any recall notice in the mail.

Just returned from an inspection at my dealer for this recall. I did not have any of the bolts broken prior but they wanted to do an inspection either way. Well it has failed the inspection and now they are going to do an interim fix by replacing rear axels and bolts until ford comes up with a fix . Waiting for a call with the next appointment.

It failed inspection but neither side had a sheared axle bolt?

I have no clue what to inspect other than if the bolt is intact. 🤔

Of course you COULD very well "inspect" the bolt by removing it! And in the process, if it shears rather than coming out, you now have the necessary evidence (picture) to provide Ford for the parts release/order.
If it doesn't shear when removed, you could put a new bolt in. :)

Just FYI, and IMO rather interesting .....

A member on 'the other forum' posted the results of his outstanding sleuthing - he searched parts.ford.com for axle SHAFT PN ML3Z4234J, first based on his 2022 VIN, then based on a generic (no VIN) 2024 F150.

Here's the results I replicated using my own VIN, with some areas of conspicuous difference highlighted in the red circles (all of the red is added by me):

Ford F-150 NHTSA Safety Recall (23V-896) on 113,000 F-150 Trucks with Trailer Tow Max Duty Package MAX TOW PARTS LOOKUP 2022 VS 2024

Make of it what you will, personally I find this very interesting indeed.

That is very interesting. Looks like a whole different assembly. even the axle is different.

Based on the diagrams I'm not inclined to agree that the difference is as extensive as you suggest. We note that the PN for the axle shaft itself (ML3Z4234J) is the same in both cases.

I could well be wrong, but it appears to me that the difference (subtle but significant) is limited to a different scheme for preventing inboard migration of the axle shaft (sans hub-end bolt but with some sort of 'stop' on the inboard end) within the same basic assembly.

Granted, it's impossible to tell from these diagrams alone, given how component 'key numbers' are shown on parts.ford.com, what other components may be different PN's.

The more I look at it, I think they may have grabbed the wrong axle housing for that graphic. There is no way to attach the hubs to that axle.
