I'm getting new tires (ko3's) and went to my local American Tire shop who on my other cars have always had a great service.
They said they can't do the tires right way because they broke their rim lock tool and waiting for a new one. I did some research and there is no "tool" I can find. There is a set Torx bolts holding it on and when tightening them up special attention is needed to slowly torque them up working in a star pattern.
My question is - Have other members had success with regular tire shops like American Tire or should I be seeking out a specially off road store or calling my dealer who will be the most expensive?
Thanks for any advice.

On my Raptor, I went to a local tire shop that was great to work with.

I removed the rim guards (what you are calling locks) in the parking lot, they mounted the tires, I reinstalled and torqued the rim guards and then they balanced the wheels.

You should just call around and see if any local tire shops are either willing to remove and reinstall for you or to allow you to do it.

FYI, some shops do have the ability to not remove the guards as they have a machine that can actually do the job with them mounted.

Beauty rings are held on with Torx Plus bits, not regular Torx bits. You can strip them with a Torx bit. Ask me how I know
