Does "1000 x RPM" bother anyone else? Any idea why Ford changed things from "RPM x 1000" like it's been for the last million years or so? It seems like something that would be easy to fix, right?

from left to right in below image: 2021/2 F-150, 2017 F-150, '60s Shelby tach.

I'm SO used to the numerical modern digital dash that I love it.
Don't get me wrong, because I also daily a 17 year old analog Porsche and I love it too.
But I don't want them to be more alike. The contrast of jumping in one and out of the other keeps them both fun.

Not sure but I think to have the analog tach you would've needed to get an XL or XLT

to the first two replies, I have no problem with the digital version. It's the small print "1000 x RPM" text below the X.Y text. "RPM x 1000" seems like the proper text to use, no?

I’m all for all digital dash but I’m not a big fan of the layout. Looks odd to me. Especially the RPM side. I actually like the new GM cluster better. Anyway 3rd world problems as they say

Is there no setting to switch between digital and an old style analog? I've been looking for an answer to this. I'm excited I'm finally getting my F150 Platinum (sometime this year when it gest built) but I'm not a fan of the digital speedo and tach.

That's so funny it says 1000 x RPM instead of RPM x 1000. I agree RPM x 1000 is more correct, but I've had my truck over a year and never noticed!

The MOST correct would be "x1000 RPM". Read the whole thing as a sentence to see what I mean.

"two point five times one thousand revolutions per minute" sounds correct compared to "two point five one thousand times revolutions per minute" or "two point five revolutions per minute times one thousand"

Why does it have to say anything? It's a given it's x1000, so it doesn't need a legend to tell me what I'm looking at.

I personally love it, and have not once for a single second not understood or known exactly what rpm the truck was at.

Please don't take my tach away.
I NEED to know what the motor is doing relative to so many other things.

Sure, it's an "automatic" up to the point you participate (intercede) in gear selection. Something I do on most excursions.

I'm kidding about removing it. I'm just disappointed that F's grammar or word choice is so badly mangled on something so simple.
