Was curious to know if anyone had more info on this new cover. It apparently can be operated by remote, your phone or even your F-150 keyfob. Clearly the install is going to be a little more involved.

The only info I found was this short clip from the 2022 SEMA:

We're actually one of the first dealers who will have our hands on this. It should be out maybe towards the end of the year but we're not 100% sure. It's still not been listed on the website.

But basically it's a powered/manual cover. I have a RetraxPro XR on my truck because I like the ease of use and being able to quickly open the cover. That's why I didn't like the powered version, i'd have to WAIT for it to open. The new cover combines both. It's powered BUT has a manual release cable so you can also open it manually.

That's the big difference. That and they added app control (bluetooth).

We'll have these listed on our website once they are available and of course, we're replacing the RetraxPro XR on our truck with one of these when it's out. Here's some data to get you WANTING it more :)

  • Electronic Integration Between Truck and Cover
  • Cover Operation Via OEM Key Fob, Phone App & Optional Keypad
  • Smoother & Quieter Cover Operation
  • Smaller Canister Design
  • Manual Disconnect
  • Enhanced LED Light Solution
  • Improved 5-Year Warranty
A new evolution in truck bed covers, the Retrax EQ is made of industrial-strength aluminum that offers unmatched strength and features a quiet cable drive retracting system. The Retrax EQ incorporates built-in Bluetooth technology, allowing control through the Retrax Phone App (iOS/Android), and can be operated with the OEM key fob, or through an optional cab-mounted touchpad for total bed cover control. Regarding electric retractable bed covers, it is by far the most versatile and accessible truck bed cover ever made.

We actually just received an email this morning about the product being available. It looks like February of 2024 is when we should start seeing inventory roll out but here are some photos

Anyone figure out if you can program/leverage your OEM F150 Keypad to open and close verse using the Retrax keypad.

I don't think you could generate "unlock" fast enough to open the cover. The "lock" might work (I'd have to try it later) but I simply use the key fob. I opted NOT to add the keypad they sell. I use my F-150's key fob or their app, which can control doors, the tailgate and the cover.

I'm extremely happy with my purchase. It was not cheap of course but I do plan to remove it and transplant it to the new truck when the time comes. It has worked beautifully and the only time I had to mess with anything, was when I changed phones, so I needed to pair my phone with the module that you install behind the glove box. There's safety features that can annoy a person, such as needing to be in park, to operate the cover. I'm sure someone could come up with a way to override that. LOL There's always someone out there that messes with things. LOL

But overall, I'm extremely happy with my investment. I keep it closed and my bed might have 1 or 2 drops of water if I hit it hard with the hose. If you take the time to do it right, it seals up really nicely. The hoses will funnel all the water out for you and you just need to clean them out once every 6-12 mos, depending on where you live. That's with any cover like that.
