Well, I contacted Ford Marketing about specific issues on the configuration tool today. They are supposed to call me back. I told them I want to order a truck this week, so hopefully they do call me back in the next day or two. If so, I will bring up these questions on Towing packages.

you guys have already saved me $1K by not selecting Max Tow.

I am assuming the integrated brake controller is the key piece when you select the Trailer Tow package 53A and that integrated brake controller is not part of the PB configuration standard. Can anyone confirm this?
What are you ordering / what options have you chose? As I've shown in recent posts the trailer tow package adds nothing but $1200 if selected with other options.

With the following options selected, everything from tow package is included

XLT 6.5 box
Hybrid
4WD
XLT high
7.2kW Gen
360 Camera (adds tow tech package)

As in you don't have the hybrid truck, just the ecoboost? If such is the case, the hybrid system adds 545lbs to the base weight. (Part of that extra weight is base options like HD frame, 9.75" rear, etc.)

The 157" ecoboost 4x weighs 4995# base.
The 157" hybrid 4x weighs 5540#

My 145" hybrid 4x (302a, no moonroof) w/ options weighs 5868lbs
Okay. Correct, I do not have a PowerBoost.
I have a 157" Max Tow EcoBoost.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to not having to lug the small generator and gas cans when we go camping now.

Like @Snakebitten said, the slight loss in payload is made up with not having to load up noisy generators and fuel etc. So the loss in payload for the PB with the 7.2kw inverter is really a wash on that. (y)
Just the yr before buying my USED 7000 mile 2021 used PB with the 2.7 gen I bought 2 2500 W champion dual fuel with the parallel connector. I had an 2004 chevy sub bought new with 133k. After 18 yrs it was to tired to tow my 2020 coachman apex 293rlds up and down hills. My point is i should have ordered the bigger generator instead of buying used and paying almost sticker on a 7 mo old truck. Oh well that waht old people spe d their 401k money on. 302a package xlt. 1619 pound payload. Question to all, Is this a max payload package. I have off road and 4x4 and sport and 360 cam packages. No sunroof.

I have a 5.5ft XLT 302A Powerboost 4x4. My payload is 1637 lbs. I have tow tech, B&O 8 speaker, moonroof, 7.2kw.

I don't have any bed utility or fx4.

If I was towing heavy I would get the 6.5ft bed and LT tires.

I take it you have 18s with that low of payload given the moonroof (payload hit that is, not low payload)?

Given the specs of the wheels -- you'll run out of wheel loading well before needing a stronger sidewall. The 20" wheels on most F150s have a 2,250 lb rating whereas the tires are 2,675 lb. I run 41 psi in mine F/R.

SRMD, It sounds like I have about what you are looking to order. The only difference is I have the regular Tow Package. My truck is a 2022 157" 4x4 302a Powerboost with 360 cameras, Tow Package, factory Spray in Bed Liner, Bed Utility Package, 7.2kw, & Tow Mirrors. Payload on door sticker is listed at 1509lbs. I hope that this helps!

He's wanting more capacity.

You're in the same boat as me, Ford owes us each $1,300 for the Faux Package.

MJ Heat and Hammaman are both correct, except I am not ordering the spray-in bed liner, but I do want the B&O audio upgrade. 1500lb of payload seems light, if I want to take my family somewhere. I can get by with just my wife, but add 3 young adult children (19-22) and it is not sufficient.

the reality is that my wife has Stage 4 cancer and she has a bucket list of things and places she wants to do/go before she departs and we are not sure how long that will be. Some are with the kids and some are just the two of us.

Do I just not worry about the payload on the 3 or 4 trips we may go on as a family? I figure I would be approximately 250-350 over payload on these trips, but they will be 2 weeks in duration for each trip and some will be in Mountainous country.

thus, my payload obsession…

After spending WAY too much time on this towing package fiasco, I think I have found what change was made for 2023. If you compare the 2021 order brochure and the 2023 order guide, you will see that the “Tow Technology Package” is no longer listed in the 2023 Order Guide.

In order to get the same content in 2023, including the Integrated Brake Controller, you need to order both the 360 Degree Camera package (763, $765) and the Trailer Tow Package (53A, $1325), which costs $2090 combined. This is the way the description reads, and I have read it very carefully multiple times. The Tow Technology Package only cost $880 in the 2022 XLT model.

Thus, for 2023, I think you have to order both. Unless someone can point me where it indicates otherwise for 2023, I believe this is accurate and this appears different than 2022.

I haven't seen the 2023 order guide, I just use ford's site that lets you configure what they're calling the 2022 order. When looking at my 2022, and what's currently configurable on the site right now, well it's the info I post here.

Not sure where you're configuring but I do the 'build', selecting XLT high adds the trailer hitch....

Only thing missing would be the TBC (which has issues of randomly deciding to not engage trailer brakes).

Adding 360 cameras includes it (TBC) and other features to deal with the cameras. For me personally I use 360 cameras a lot, as well as the co-pilot assist 2.0. You can add the latter by buying the radar module and making some changes via forscan (long thread on it) and it comes out to ~$350 vs the $750 ford wants.

For you to save weight on your GVWR sticker, skip the bed liner and bed utility package as combined they're ~120lbs+ IIRC.

However, as has been shown in the thread, the truck is a 7850# GVWR engineered package, just missing its corresponding label. Stickers don't magically make you safe. That said, given your circumstances, order the thing loaded and make your memories.

With 5 adults and 200lbs of gear in your bed, you'll be at a vehicle weight of ~6700lbs + trailer tongue weight in a truck that's engineered to handle 7,850lbs, rated to tow 11klbs with a GCWR of 17klbs.

I didn't accidentally order twin 7klb spread torsion axles in my 8.5 x 20' trailer to move a 10klb machine.

Hammaman - attached are the 2023 order guide and price guide. I downloaded from another post on the forum. I am calling Granger tomorrow to see if I can get it straightened out for me to place order. I found a PB local, but the Stealer wanted $10 above MSRP. No thanks.

2023 King Ranch standard; PowerBoost; 2WD; 7.2Kw
So I took my new truck to the CAT scale today- gas full and no passenger.
King Ranch Standard; Powerboost; 2WD; 7.2KW; 360 Assist and camera
Base weight- 5500#
GVWR- 7350#
Payload= GVWR-Base weight
Payload= 1850#
My yellow sticker- 1787#

I used 2 KR std to estimate my payload
1856# & 1844#
Estimating is difficult due to the lack of information. The Ford tow information is about it, and it is limited, dated, and somewhat cryptic.
ALL of my estimates were well above 1800# using multiple trucks.

Of note, 1787# was assigned BEFORE my truck was built (according to the VIN specific calculator that was operational in October). From my experience of one, Ford is not weighing each individual truck and printing the appropriate sticker.
I am more comfortable with >1800#.

As a pleasant aside- My truck came with the Front Sensing System, which the 2023 Order Guide specifically excluded from 360 Assist. FSS required 360 Active (Blue Cruise).

Happy New Year!
