I received an invite for the new Ford Pass app. This doesn’t appear to be the same beta version from Test Flight I’ve been hearing about. Or maybe it is. Anyone else got the invite? Overall it looks better and I definitely like not having to press and hold to remote start.

There is a thread on FordPass v5 and lots of complaints about everything removed from it.

Development is a work in progress.

It's easy enough to switch back and forth between V4/V5. A single finger press if you choose to ignore the questionare.

For the Powerboost, V5 is pared down quite a bit, but for the EV (Mach-E) the majority of the functions are pretty much available now.

FordPass is far more functional for the EV because it still supports Bluetooth based functions.

All the cool stuff that's been removed from V4 for the Powerboost are the very features that were Bluetooth based. Very disappointing. And they aren't in V5 either.
Hopefully Ford brings the protocol back someday?

New version is disappointing. Within the last 2 weeks it broke and won't charging info / control for the EV. 🤷‍♂️

After playing with the app a bit, I can see why there are so many complaints. Missing features like pro power onboard and trailer light check, no warranty info, software updates with no update info and remote start that took forever to start. I was standing next to it trying to start it and after waiting a minute, I just opened the door and went inside. Then all of a sudden it started up. Shouldn’t it have cancelled it. I hope this invite doesn’t mean they’ll be rolling this out any time soon because this is a huge downgrade.

Mine too.
I chose to delete the app
Reinstall.
Delete all L2 charging history

Charge once.
Go to Sync4 in the car.
Charge session was there, but as a longitude/latitude only. Edited it to "Home" and set a SOC target of 80%

A few minutes later FordPass V5 updated to include the saved location and target charge.

At that point FordPass was fully functional again.
I also had to "rekey" PAAK too.
(I wish I knew where that cert(?) was stored?)

I'll leave mine alone until forced to change, or they fix what they took out.

I use the PPOB and trailer light check.

In my opinion I think the stripping of FordPass features for our Powerboost trucks is/was a result of the decision to remove Bluetooth support in the app.

I say that because it is SO obvious that the disparity in functionality between the Mach-E and Powerboost IS the Bluetooth connection.
Without Bluetooth, FordPass disables many features on the Mach-E too.

What I'm hoping is that Ford was determined to rebuild on the new software platform for V5 and to do so required the V4 stripping of the last year and now they are re-writing for V5.

I think (I'm optimistic) we are going to see the return of Bluetooth support in FordPass with our Powerboost. The second we see just ONE Bluetooth function show up, I think that indicates Ford intends to do the same as they have done for the Mach-E.

Ford is a big giant inefficient pig at this stuff. But they are developing V5 right in front of my face. It's impossible not to witness what is happening one painful step at a time.

If you only own a Powerboost, you just don't get as much evidence of what is going on. In fact it feels like abandonedment!

I don't think they have plans to fix what they took out. At least not on the platform that V4 runs on.

I’m confused, how are the features removed related to Bluetooth support in FordPass? My XLT Powerboost never had Bluetooth connectivity for features like PPOB and zone lighting but I was able to access all the features in FordPass through the modem.

As someone who had reverse engineered the FordPass API to write the first version of Siri Shortcuts, I would assume the missing features are a combination of the API behind the scenes changing on top of the updates for the v5 version of the app.
