New 2021-24 F-150 Recall 25S49 / NHTSA 25V315 & Delivery Hold: Rear Camera Display Freezing

New Recall came up for my 2021 XLT today while I was checking for details on the Axle bolts. Guess it's like playing whack-a-mole to get them all cleared. :crazy:

Summary: ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN MAY FREEZE FOLLOWED BY A BLACK SCREEN AND A SYSTEM REBOOT. IF THIS OCCURS DURING A BACKING EVENT, THE REAR-VIEW IMAGE MAY BE FROZEN, MISSING, OR DELAYED.

Safety Risk: A FROZEN REAR-VIEW CAMERA DISPLAY AN IMAGE WHILE IN REVERSE CAN CREATE A FALSE REPRESENTATION OF WHERE THE VEHICLE IS RELATIVE TO ITS SURROUNDINGS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: WHEN THE REMEDY IS AVAILABLE, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM YOU TO CONTACT YOUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. THE REMEDY IS ANTICIPATED TO BE AVAILABLE IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2025.

Hmmmm, my May 2022 KC build is in the affected vehicle range but VIN-specific recalls search on both Ford.com and NHTSA lookup shows no hits (and I've never had any screen-blackout issues).

Well, by the looks of this new recall no wonder my screen freezing issues weren't fixed when the truck was at the dealership last week. They updated a bunch of modules but I'm still having screen issues, along with the backup camera not working when it has to reboot.

Doesn't look like they have a fix for this one? Looks like they can't even open a repair order on it right now because warranty will reject it?

Same with mine - it's an October 2023 Dearborn build so it's in the range, but nothing comes up. Never had an issue either.

Glad to see they are finally addressing their buggy APIM's. I have had this happen to me a few times, but at least once a week the APIM crashes at startup at the Ford logo splashscreen and I have to manually reset it with the steering wheel buttons. Hopefully, my VIN falls within the range and they can fix both issues but not holding my breath.

Ahh Ford doing everything they can to retain the crown for most recalls issued by any manufacturer.

Mine is from Deerborn and in the build date and have had the issue described happen a bunch of times but not showing as active..

yet...

It's actually at the dealer now for the rear axle recall so I'll ask my advisor about this one too, but since they probably need to reprogram the APIM (or replace the module) I'm going to bet that there's nothing to be done about it until Ford has a fix in a year or two...
