Not sure if anyone follows the CA news but it has been a s**t show here the last few days. Fire burning down entire cities and electrical blackouts everywhere. Luckily for me and my family, I was hit with the latter of the two.
Whole town went dark - all businesses closed due to no power. Couldn't even pump gas.

Anyway, getting passed the sob story, I never thought I would actually use the Pro Power generator my truck came with but here we are. Powered up the wifi, tv, fridge, and a couple lights. I have an all new appreciation for this truck.

Side note - CA actually wants to ban gas generators. That has got to be one of the dumbest decisions I could think of.

Great to hear the 7.2kw is stepping up when you need it! I feel like this on-board generator is one of those things that you don't know you need until you actually need it. Did you already have your house electrical panel outfitted to accept the generators power? Thats the one thing I need to figure out once I receive my order.. There is a great tutorial video on this forum about it.

As far as your side note... Dont get the majority of the population going about CA and the moronic "leaders" it has... 😂😂 They also want to ban gas engines and go 100% EV when they have to ask its residents to not use A/C and other power consuming items because the grid cannot handle it.. 😂😂

We just used a bunch of extension cords in the moment. But getting that transfer switch on the main panel is certainly on my to-do list now.

And they want to ban gas stoves as well 🤦‍♂️ I'm starting to believe the conspiracies....that they just want to make all residents as dependent on the government as possible. No thanks - I've seen the results.
Hell, one of our neighbors only has Teslas. No clue what they would've done if the power was out longer. Can't even get out of town then.

It’s all about controlling their minions.

Glad to hear you are relatively safe. Hope you are a good safe distance.

Really glad you and your family are safe; some of the footage I've seen shows California literally looks like hell on earth. My PB is riddled with crap, but as you say the 7.2kwh generator is definitely a god send. Glad you have it man!

I installed the backfeed kit from Square D. pretty simple, you just need to order the kit for your specific box. You also need to have the first two slots on the right available. Had to move some breakers down on the right side in my case.
It prevents you from having the main and backfeed closed at the same time.

I used my 2kw when Hurricane Helene knocked out our power for a week. It kept my freezer going and my cpap at night. I used a noisy 3.5K gas generator when I was away from home with my truck. I've also used it numerous times for power tools when away from electricity. That is the ONLY reason I hate to get rid of it, but I think I must with all of the negatives I'm beginning to worry about with 90k miles.

You're correct, I hate to see the people of CA suffer due to the incompetence of its leadership and lack of foresight preparing for disasters like this which happen quite often in the state. In the name of protecting a few different endangered species It is casting the safety and wellbeing of its people aside. I know that's people's homes, the land that they grew up in, but it's sad how the leaders are continually incompetent. Glad your truck is pulling through for you, they are well thought out machines for the most part.

Then pile on horrible forestry management and vegetation control, and you get disasters like these and the other wildfires that have hit CA.

YUP... A little controlled burning would prevent all of this.. The state truly is a terrible place to live, imo. The reasons are endless.. And this is coming from someone who is in WA state... Where we have a laundry list of our own issues. We aren't a whole lot better, but definitely aren't in the same boat as our neighbors to the south.

But enough about that sad subject.. Back to trying to become Gen14 F150 experts..

Yup. We suffer the fools who we elect to office and put in control. I grew up in So Calif, and loved it. Not now; I won't go back until and if the electorate votes out of office the morons now in charge.
Be safe. Prayers to all who have suffered.

I'm down in San Diego watching what our neighbors up North are going through. 2003 and 2007 San Diego saw some devastating wildfires driven by these winds. It's one of the reasons I decided on getting a PB truck. I haven't had to use it in a power outage yet, but we live in a more semi rural part of the county than most where wildfires are a real risk and SDG&E has preemptively cut power to at least 6,000 customers.

I also remember the days of rolling blackouts where the power grid was overloaded and the power companies in CA would shut power off to communities and neighborhoods during the hottest days of the summer.

Having a 7k generator that can also get you out of dodge in a hurry if needed is a big comfort blanket for emergency preparedness.
