Hi!

The 2021 F-150 will be my first truck ever and I'm very excited to (eventually) get it. Stupid question, but Im wondering, since trucks have no trunks, where do people actually store their various auto-related items in these vehicles? Since mine is a gasoline model with the Pro Power, I can't get the lockable storage unit under the back seat because it has the inverter located in that area already. That being the case, where can I store a gallon of windshield washer, emergency road kit, etc. without leaving that stuff simply laying on the floor in the back?

Thank you
The inverter doesn't take much room, you can get a lockable storage which is standard under the back seat. It is directly under the 60% fold seat,

Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions, and thank you daemonic3 for posting those pictures. If the under seat compartment in mine looked like that, I would be happy and have more than enough room for the essentials.

I guess I'm just worried that, given my configuration which has the huge 2k power inverter under the seat, I may not have nearly the same amount of space, nor even have any storage compartments under there whatsoever. Like I said, I haven't seen the vehicle yet, so time will tell!
Jfdube999, if you look at the last Photo closely, you’ll see that power inverter is shown under the 40% rear seat and that the large storage cubby under the 60% side. You should be good to go!

(Thank you, daemonic3 for these excellent photos!)

Thanks guys. I really do appreciate the photos. However, what is depicted here is a 2017 with the standard inverter, and not the 2021 with the larger 2kw ProPower Onboard unit that's in my order.

I have yet to see, in person or on any pictures, what the setup looks like on the 2021, and if there's any storage left under those seats (and what it looks like).

If I'm reading right you keep all these items in your trunk, so how do you keep them from flying around. This is the same for the truck cab just find a card board box short enough to fit under the seat and voila done.

The box/container is not the issue. The concern is, will there be room under there in the fist place, as per my initial post.

Ok i have your answer, and it isn't good. The nearby dealership had 2 XLTs 302a's with 2kW propower. Here is the interior:

So under the 60% side is the 2kW inverter for the bed, and the 40% side still has the 400W inverter for the interior plugs...

One suggestion is, if you are leaving the carpet under there, is just a shallow box with velcro on the underside or no slip mat. There is still a lot of room, you just don't get the cubbies.

Thank you so much for this. Much appreciated. That's exactly what I wanted to see, and unfortunately not the result I was hoping for.

This brings me back to my initial question, to which I still have no answer to I'm afraid. Where am I going to store the most basic stuff in the truck? Under the seats seems to be a no go.

You've seen it in person, so If you think there's still room for some sort of shallow bin under there, then I'm happy and I'll just have to wait for the truck to arrive, take measurements and go shopping :)

There is, but the height in the cubby area is more accommodating than the height toward the knee area when folded down. That's why I was hoping you had the cubby area. I can give height later today from my 2017 (I don't think this would have changed). Are you putting weathertech mats or just going bare carpet?

I ordered the FX4 package, which is supposed to include "tray style" carpets. Not sure what the rear one will look like though.

What do you mean by "the cubby area"?

Ah, yes I think the FX4 mats are basically ford branded weathertec mats. Mine has weathertec so I'll measure to that for you.

The cubby area is the partitioned area in my picture, where I store my jackets, and where I placed the jugs for demonstration. You wont have it due to the inverters.

Yes, exactly, no cubby area, and weathertec-type mats. Mine will look exactly like the one in the picture. All I'll have is the space in between the front of the inverters up to the edge of the folded down bench.

Ok the length from inverter to knee is 12.5", and the lowest height clearance to weathertec mat is 5.5". Here are some sample pics

That is extremely useful. Thank you so much daemonic3! I'll start looking for something that can fit that space.

Other than under the rear seats, what are the other storage areas that are worth mentioning in this truck?
