I Figured I would start a build thread to track all of my poor financial decisions in one place. Here is the new truck. It's a 23 Avalanche XLT Sport 3.5 Ecoboost 4x4. This was the day after I bought it 2 weeks ago, fresh from the tint shop.
This is how it currently looks. I have added a Truxedo Sentry CT hard rolling bed cover. VAS Fab traction bars, inlays for the f150 indent on the tailgate and removed the rear block to give the truck less rake.
It currently is at Livernois Motorsports getting tuned. I am hoping to pick it up today. For those that are impatient like me, tuning a 23 (build date after 12/22) is EXPENSIVE! From what I could find, LMS is the only one tuning them currently. You have to pay for a blank ECM and take the truck to them, where they program the ECM to the truck then tune it. It's about $1800 all in. With a little patience I am sure there will be more tuning options and they will be cheaper.
Patience is not a virtue I do well though. It is what it is.... I am getting 3 files. An 87 tow/economy tune, 93 performance tune and e30 performance tune. I plan on moving to the e30 file pretty much immediately when I get the truck back. They informed me they had to find injectors for the port injection (apparently the fuel rail is different on the 23) but they are working on an e85 tune with upgraded port injection. As soon as that one is available I will be getting injectors and moving to e85.
I acted on some Labor Day sales and have these goodies sitting at the house waiting for me to have time to install them...
CVF Titan v2 intercooler
Turbosmart Vee Port BOV
Skar dual 12" ported under seat sub enclosure
1200/1 Rockford Fosgate Amp (reclaimed from the old truck)
A little background on why this thread could turn stupid. Here is my last truck. An 18 STX 4x4 5.0. It got a 6" RC lift and 35x12.50R22 Ridge Grapplers on 22x12 -44 wheels within 2 weeks of purchase. within 6 months, I had added a Gen 3 Whipple, JD dual pump fuel system, ID 1050 injectors and an e85 tune. According to the Dragy and scales, it was around 820-830whp. It was a ton of fun to mess with muscle cars in this thing. The confused look on their face was priceless.
I ran it that way for a few years and got tired of climbing in and out as well as the ride with a 6 inch lift and 12 ply 35s. When it was time for tires, I went with 305/40R22 on 22x9 wheels with a 3/5 drop kit. It rode good, handled good and as an added bonus I picked up over 6mpg on the highway. Yes, it is the same truck.
It had 120k miles on it and I really liked some of the features on the Gen 14s so I traded it in. I plan to keep the ride height where it is now with the blocks removed. I haven't decided completely on a wheel and tire combo yet, but I am leaning toward an All Terrain NON-LT tire.
I will try to keep this thread updated so that you all can follow along on what any financial advisor would call a tragedy, lol.
