Started seeing some palm trees at a turnoff. Pretty cool. It started getting hot. Truck getting 18-21 so far.

Headed south to the Hoover Dam. Landscape looks pretty much the same until you get past Caliente.

Stopped at the scenic view of Lake Mead on the way out.
Always fun to hit In and Out burger when down here. Dad really enjoyed it. Nice we can still do trips like this at his age. If you get a chance do these things while you can.
Headed to some population centers so will hotel it for a few to do some things.

Drove thru Needles, California to Palm Springs. Saw gas prices up to $6.09. Moving west truck getting 16-18 mpg.

If you stay out west a little, think about hitting the 395. My favorite section to drive and find remote camping. Lone Pine, Big Pine, Bishop, Convict Lake, Mammoth etc.

Nice pics! It's crazy how low the water levels are getting in Lake Mead. I remember seeing pics of the dam when I was a kid in the 90s and the water was way higher on those towers, just barely under the bridges. You can see the coloration on the rock surrounding the lake as well.

Actually, we’re going to be hitting Joshua Tree and scooting up the east side of Cali to Lassen Volcanic National Park this week.

Warning: not for Ford purists. Spent the morning in Thermal at the BMW Performance Center West on the track driving different M cars. It was a blast.

The cars & track. On and off road tracks. The Z4 was the most fun I thought. Also got to take a ride with the instructor. That was a trip.

Then went down to the tram at Palm Springs. Second largest one in the world.

Well, thought about maybe doing one more thing but after these nights in the city I’m ready to get back out into the country. Headed north.

Took the opportunity to have some Halibut at a recommended restaurant. Great service.
