Switched over to synthetic 5W-30 oil for improved cold start performance. Considering adding an oil pan heater for the days it gets colder. With the turbos I’m leaning towards staying with the 5W over the 0W since there aren’t a ton of days below -20.

I'd go with the block heater over the oil pan heater. It heats the coolant instead of the oil. The thought of the possibility of cooking the oil is no bueno. The 'oil cooler' interacts with the oil at the filter so you get all of the benefits w/out the risk. Given the heat output of the block heater, use a current rated timer to turn it on ~2hrs before driving.

Parts VIN lookup says the truck has a block heater. I looked all over for a cord but couldn’t find it. I’ll probably add one this summer.
Although the oil cooler/block heater combine so to speak, I don’t see how it would heat the 6 quarts in the pan. But, pan heaters should not be on for long at all and use a low wattage one. Last year we were down to around -48 so on my other rig I was using the block heater, oil pan heater, and trickle charger.

Mine is a 5.0, but it was tucked behind the bumper on the left-hand side of the center opening.

Just received really good news. Ford followed up to the case # last fall with a 5yr/75k premium care complimentary warranty from me responding to their request on this forum to follow up on the B&O issue. Thank you Ford!

Nice! Mine hasn’t done any updates at all recently. I’m going to have to hook up FDRS and see what it needs

It downloaded Friday. Maybe it will fix the battery gremlins before I get to messing around with it??? Wish it said more details. I don’t usually drive more than 20 minutes commuting.

I know on my wife’s Explorer ST, I have to put the charger on the battery every few months because of all the short trips. My truck hasn’t had any issues yet, but we will see as I’ve only had it like 7 months.

I don’t see why not. I’ll be going to one when this battery dies.

Any reason not going with a H8 battery?
I was planning on doing this. Then, I started having a couple of new issues this year such as randomly having to press the start button twice to start and random trailer brake error messages. I've been talking with my service advisor and will be starting to document dates on these errors if they persist. I'm really wondering if they are just more battery glitches. But yes, it's definitely on the radar. More to come...

Changed the cabin filter today for the first time. First pic is original part for reference. Interesting color on the back of the new one. Thicker pleats but much fewer compared to 39 OEM.

Just got a notice for another update. This is three updates since January I think. I looked today’s up and the last one and I guess they’ve been out for awhile so suddenly this truck is updating.

I like the looks of the Wix filter, I will have to try it next time around.
