Here’s a snapshot of what I’m getting so far from my 2.7 with the 3.73 ELA.
XLT 302A, FX4, Screw. Winter temperatures and 80 MPH on the highway.

Nothing really new here. Just wanted to share

meh,...its ok for mileage. 2.7 liter has not lived up to the mpg as advertised. Nice engine, does what I need, without paying premium price on larger engine. Highway 80 mph should be optimal for mileage ratings. Its been a mild winter thus far, so mileage will get worst as it gets colder.

Wait, 435 miles to empty on a little over half a tank? That is an impressive range!!!

Getting better. My former ‘18 with the 3.5EB was able to get pretty good mileage, but not as good as this.

My 2.7 is at 18.6 and I don’t drive super aggressively...

Based on my research, it seems like most 2.7 owners are exceeding the EPA rated mileage on the highway. I think it all depends on how you drive this engine. If you're constantly in boost, you won't like the mileage you get. I don't have to worry about that because 90% of my driving is highway cruising.
Also, most vehicles these days are optimized to be most efficient at 60-65 MPH, not 80. Typical highway speeds here in Ohio are around 70 and the 2.7 shines at that speed.

I have the 36 gallon tank. ??
The extended range tank is a must have, even if just for the convenience of not having to stop for gas as often. I'm definitely getting it when I order my truck.

From Toronto and I'm totally amazed at the mileage I'm getting! The EPA combined mileage for Canada is 11.5 litres/100km and I'm getting 12 litres/100km, although mostly highway. That's an amazing number considering that I have 3.73 gears in the rear which should have resulted in less fuel economy. I just turned in a 2018 XLT 2.7 and the mileage was like 13.5 litres/100km.

Also, I noticed that the RPMs are always between 1200-1800 (even during highway speeds) and the transmission constantly feels like it's in too low of a gear. Has anyone else felt that way?

I usually short shift when driving around town in a manual transmission and skip gears too. If anything, I would be shifting sooner than the 10 speed is if I were rowing gears manually.

Same for downshifting, I feel it tries to engine brake too much, even in eco mode. I usually pop the shifter into neutral when coasting to a stop, or even down a long hill, especially when I had a Ducati, which has a false neutral between every gear. If you would nudge the lever slightly, you would be between 4/5 and I would get 50mpg regularly, despite passing nearly any car in site.

I strongly considered the 2.7 but was afraid to go with the turbos, so chose the 5.0 and just filled up for the first time, got 13mpg from the first half tank but that included its time in transit that had several hours of idling and also trying to break it in without droning around at idle. So there have been more throttle applications than I plan after the first oil change. Pretty much all my driving was in the city.

I just signed up at Fuelly:

I have been browsing through the various profiles for the last few years to better inform my purchase, so I figured I should start logging my own data.

I have 2018 2.7 lariat, waiting for my 2021 on order since Dec in Ontario.

I am extremely happy to hear you see an improvement over the 2018 which was way off in its estimates. I agree how u drive this truck will affect milage considerably. The fact u see a considerable difference (assuming u drive the same way as before) is awesome.

Anyone else seeing the 2021 2.7 having better milage then previous years?

80mph is never optimal speed in a Truck.

throwing this out here first 100 miles. I live next to a massive hill so I expect it to go down. I am hoping I can get a 22 average in the long term. Good start anyways :)

Glad you posted this to the thread. Will be interesting to see how things continue to improve as we enter the warmer months and burn summer gas. ??
