I have hand calculated the MPG's on my last four tank fill-ups and compared it to the truck's readings. My actual calculations are between 1- 1.5 mpg's less than what the truck displays. I am looking to change the data points in the computer through the "engineering" mode. Has anyone completed this before?
the first post I copied (mine) tells how to get the number you need to set to.

the second part, by “Bandito” tell how to get into Engineering Mode.
No real procedure to exit other than to turn the truck off.
make a note of what the dash is reading now, and it should change a bit after the change.

Takes about two minutes to adjust this.
hand calculate your mileage per fillup

divide that number by what the truck tells you you got.

Display shows 21.3
actual comes out to 19.6
19.6/21.3=.9201xxxx

access engineering mode ( I forgot how since I’ve done it—simple tho)
change fuel AFE BIAS setting to 920 ——it should be set to 1000 factory

there are a couple of videos posted around here that show you how

edited to correct area of engineering mode from DTE to AFE BIAS

From “Bandito”

Just for convenience, to get into Engineering Mode, simply hold down the OK button on the right side of the steering wheel and start the truck. The center display will indicate that you are in EM and you can release the OK button. A press on the up arrow will land you on the AFE BIAS (Average Fuel Economy Bias?) page where you can make your adjustment.

After one or two adjustments, I have always been able to get within .1 mpg of the hand-calculated value which means I know the truck is telling me the truth. Before this adjustment, the truck was 1.1 mpg optimistic.

I have about 1000 miles on my truck so far and I'm averaging a dismal 16mpg. Should I be concerned of a larger issue with my truck if my average is 16mpg?

meh,...its ok for mileage. 2.7 liter has not lived up to the mpg as advertised. Nice engine, does what I need, without paying premium price on larger engine. Highway 80 mph should be optimal for mileage ratings. Its been a mild winter thus far, so mileage will get worst as it gets colder.
Like others said, 80mph is horrible for mileage. My mileage completely falls off a cliff after about 65MPH.

I felt like I got kicked below the belt with the last fill up. I’ve got the 2.7 SCREW running 87 and just over 2200 miles. Truck said I got 15.4 but hand calc said I got 13.28. I had to set my AFE to 862! I see everyone else is in the upper 900’s so I feel like I’m way off in bufu with my number; which i’d like to attribute to the truck not being broken in yet.

I’m hoping that changes when I get more miles on it and mpg improves but man if that didn’t make my jaw drop today. I do remote start 5-10 min when it’s super cold up here in Chicagoland so I know that’s not helping at all.

I have a PowerBoost and had the 2018 2.7L EB 2wd with 3.55 E-lock.

I didn't know about the AFE mod when I had the last truck but adjusted the current 2021 PB. My PB is approaching 7000 miles and I have owned it for 9 months. I adjusted the AFE value 4 tanks ago and the AFE value is now 906 I think? Seems to be spot on. This PB is yeilding 20-25% worse fuel economy than the stated, even when driving 68mph on the highway.

I wish I bought the 6 passenger back in 2018, that way I wouldn't be in this situation, OH WELL!

For the 1800 mile cross country drive home after delivery, mostly 75-85 mph in moderate weather. 3.5l Eco, 157 wb 4x4 Lariat.

Hit a new personal best 26.9 mpg over 417 miles, hand calculated at the pump. 87 octane. Highway commute at 60 mph. ‘21 CCSB 2.7EB 3.55s 2wd.

Also took a trip from Wilmington, NC to Indianapolis, IN and back. Whenever I could, my cruise was set at 75 and I do drive for efficiency while in the mountains etc. overal average for the 1800 mile trip in 4 days was about 25 mpg.

80 is far from optimal for MPG. Why would you think it is?

All my F150s its been 68mph for optimal highway speed & fuel economy. My VW Tiguan is 73mph where I'm going fast enough but also getting good fuel economy.

Optimal mpg is likely just after you enter your highest gear which is probably 35-45 for many vehicles. Larger engines tend to be on the higher end of that range and smaller engines at the lower. With the 10 speed in the F150, my truck goes into 9th at 46 and that might be more efficient than pushing to 56 to get into 10th. Small rpm drop from 9 to 10 for a relatively large 10 mph increase and that 10 mph of wind resistance is probably worse for mpg than just staying in 9th

if i drive like it aggresively, so I can hear the turbos - i have been averaging 19-20. If i drive it conservatively I get 22-24. I have 295/60r20 hybrid terrain tires, 3.73 gears and I noticed a significant difference mpg wise running 93 octane. Also I noticed like my hemi, if i get to speed faster my mpg seems to stay higher.

That’s likely a calibration error, we all know the computers don’t display accurate numbers. My last 3 Fords have all been 1-1.5 mpg optimistic. Doesnt really make sense that using extra fuel to speed up quickly would save fuel.

not sure if you were replying to me, but those numbers are hand calculation, I dont typically pay attention to the MPG on the dash.
