I strongly considered the 2.7 but was afraid to go with the turbos, so chose the 5.0 and just filled up for the first time, got 13mpg from the first half tank but that included its time in transit that had several hours of idling and also trying to break it in without droning around at idle. So there have been more throttle applications than I plan after the first oil change. Pretty much all my driving was in the city.
When I drove mine home from the Ford Store, I was showing 11.6
At about 300 miles, I filled up and it showed about 15.6
A lot of fuel used during the Texas freeze idling while I tried to figure stuff out.
I don’t do much city driving at all, but quite a bit in the 30-50mph zone once off freeway.
I’m now at 1/2 tank with under 600 on the clock, and I have watched the average increase every single day—now at 18.1. Anticipating an even 20 by the time I actually run the fuel out and fill up.

My 98 Chev 4x4 averaged right at 16, but it also runs so smooth and quiet I forget to shift up and my hand on the steering wheel blocks the “shift up” light.
I get the short shifting and skipping.
Go from 1st to 3rd on a regular basis in my Ranchero
The Chev pickup frequently gets 1-2-5, or 1-3-5, but I’m usually at 50 in second gear.

Here’s a snapshot of what I’m getting so far from my 2.7 with the 3.73 ELA.
XLT 302A, FX4, Screw. Winter temperatures and 80 MPH on the highway.

Nothing really new here. Just wanted to share

I tell ya what.
I am SOOO looking forward to my new PowerBoost arriving next week.
No matter what the final mileage is that I get out of it, it will be a HUGE MASSIVE improvment over what I have right now.

With 265K on my 2005 F250 getting 6mpg towing my sleds in winter, I am expecting a 300% improvement in fuel economy at the least!!

The money I save in GAS alone will make a substantial dent in my monthly new car payment! :)

Here is a more realistic MPG that I would expect out of my 2.7. Maybe it will fall a tiny bit still but last drive it stayed roughly the same

That’s very impressive! You continue to get really great MPG. Mine is still creeping upward......I’m at 22.7 on this tank so far at about 150 miles. Not bad at all, even with the 3.73. ??

I’m not heavy on the throttle, but I’m also not driving like a granny either. But yeah, pretty happy so far!

My second fill up.
5.0, 4x4, SCab, 8’, 3.31
Lifetime avg of 18.7 on the dash—not sure it is quite that high.
Ford F-150 MPG data points A06949D4-5C7B-4696-998B-B39D1449E3DE

Fill up was 28.4 gallons, and on this round despite the dash telling me 20.3 mpg,
A physical check shows me I’m getting 19.2mpg.

My average is still climbing on the dash.
Not too shabby really as this is a heavy rig.
No city traffic that is worth mentioning but a 50/50 mix of 70-80 freeway and 30-50 rural speeds with few lights to contend with

I might add
At fill up the gauge showed just under 1/4 tank and the remaining miles was at 89.
7 gallons remaining at fill up
( I auto fill to first click off, and go the the next even $1.00)

Powerboost hybrid xlt sport,fx4 4x4 6.5 box. With new retrax cover helps fuel savings. 8.4L/100k that's over 26mpg. Looking forward to when it's broken in. Should be able to stay around 26mpg
