My initial shifter was alright. Recently had a faulty battery which caused a delay in unlocking so it was rarely smooth out of drive. Swapped batteries and the shifter ran smoothly without issues. Sounded anemic folding though.

My dealer replaced the shifter as a precaution as they were concerned the battery swap was a temporary fix. They noted that while it was smooth it was sloppier than they thought acceptable. They replaced it last week and I'm not sure if there's a new revision for the shifter, but it's really nice. It's still smooth but the detents are more pronounced and tighter in tolerance. The folding also doesn't sound as anemic.

I'd rather a column shift but this was the lesser of two evils over a light grey interior and chrome bumpers.

Bring back the Column shifter but shortened up . Save room for more space in middle. The Silverado EV now has it too like the Mercedes benz models.
Silverado EV?
I know the Mercedes actually exists, but....

Good evening,

I apologize if this has been discussed before( I searched the forum) but I have owned a RAM 1500 for the last few years and am in the process of selling it to buy a new F 150.

I’d never driven a new gen F 150 and test drove a used 2022 F 150 KR over the past weekend. Are all the retractable/folding gear shift levers so cheesy and Mickey Mouse? I can understand it is needed for the mobile work platform, but in the truck I drove it was loud and cheap sounding, almost like an old d cell battery or windup powered toy. Perhaps this is an anomaly, but wow, what a poor execution. With the rest of the interior functions I expected it to be silent and fluid functioning. Maybe I’m being ridiculous, but it was really off putting. Just my .02.
As opposed to what, the plastic round dial of the ram located on the dash? It serves its purpose as it allows for the armrest to open, lay flat making a workstation. Personally, we’re finding that all the big three manufacturers have one or two cheesy engineering add ons and looks like there may even be more added to each down the road.

My 21 PB shifter checked out at about 21k and left me stuck in park. Piece of the gear inside the shifter broke off and jammed the unit up. Whole thing feels like cheap RC car grade plastics inside.

You don't have lower it when you're getting out of the truck. Although my KR has the motorized shifter, I never use it (I don't have the work desk). Just leave it up and don't worry about it.

It is below the quality of a cheap RC plastic. Don't insult cheap RC plastics bro. :)

Yes- I agree that it never inspires confidence when I raise or lower the shifter- but, on the flip side, I've only ever lowered it 2-3 times in the year I've owned the truck. I would submit that it's a really poor design that fortunately for most will only be utilized sparingly.

This is where the shifter should be. If you need this dial to back up a truck, you shouldn't be towing.

Column shifter superiority. Have your work surface down AND can drive.

Can I get that with a 3 speed manual trans?
10 speed only, a 10 speed that doesn’t blow out CDF clutch drums would be nice though!!!

i can safely say i have folded mine down less than 5 time since i got the truck in apr 2022
i use the cubby for the key fob
i wonder of we could just keep it folded and press the buttons beside it to select a gear?
i ask because i read in forscan while i was sitting in truck for long time letting battery charge up, that in the multitude of stuff, there are settings to change the steering wheel buttons to do other tasks, so why cant the buttons beside shifter be re-selected to drive, park etc

why cant we have a voice order...SYNC..let us have drive?? SYNC responds DRIVE mode selected , releasing parking brake, .......SYNC announces...you didnt say thank you ...brake set
