Moon roof damage during transport

First off not my truck.
Stoped by a local dealer to see a lariat sport with 18s on it in person. Got a surprise when I was there. Looks like some damage happened to the roof during transport and must of tweaked the sun roof. They had the back seats up and passenger seat removed, headliner gone as well. Had a few coffee cans on the floor to catch water and I noticed water running in and hitting everywhere but the coffee cans lol. It was a snowy rain mix here all weekend. Really surprised it’s not parked inside.
Pics are kinda hard to see I know but you can see the headliner is gone and the side airbags are exposed.

WOW! That is horrible! It looks like they are trying to salvage it, but I wouldn't even come close to buying that thing even if it was severely marked down in price. I'm glad for you that isn't your truck!

I wonder what happened. Was the metal of the roof punctured? Or the seals compromised? Or both? And more importantly, how?!

And it's a Lariat Sport too. What a heartbreaker..........

If that’s someone’s custom order are they able to just say no to it and ask for a new one without any hassle(aside from having to wait the additional time for the new one)??

I’m not sure about that or what the recourse would be. It would be a real shame if someone had to wait a second time for a new truck to arrive.

It looks like the transporter didn't provide enough clearance or lock rails in place. The constant rubbing from the drive from the factory probably caused those deep etching. Did you happen take a pic of the VIN? Put it out there on the forums of this damage for someone who might be searching?

I bet it doesn't even get disclosed. Dealers hide a lot of damage that happens during transport and on the dealership lot.

No I didn’t get the vin. I’m just assuming this happened during transport as I can’t think of any other way this would happen. I think there is a hole in the roof in the first pic. I can’t remember exactly, I was kind of in shock of seeing the whole thing lol.

Maybe before they get all the repair work done and before they install the new sunroof they should park it in the curing oven at the paint shop to dry out all the water the coffee cans missed

Additional Waiting time will suck but like someone else said; there’s no way I would take that damaged one even after full repairs and a big discount.

Sadly though, someone will eventually buy it and will probably never know about the repair.
